I don't know why, but I really thought we still had about a month to go before Mother's Day was upon us. Nope. 10 days and it's here. Just like my own mother, I've come to love the little gifts or small gestures when it comes to celebrating any holiday. Funny story. Allison asked what I wanted for Christmas last year and I said if you're going to get me a gift, please buy me consumables. To which she replied, "You want me to buy you weed!?" This is where I'd insert the slapping the forehead emoji if blogger offered it up as an option. I had to explain that no, I did not want "weed"  or "edibles" but things that I could consume and be done with. You know, candy, flowers, candles, soap.... things of that nature. The older I get, the less dust collectors I want laying around the house. So, I always look forward to Mother's Day because that's the day the girls spoil me with cleaning the house before I wake and then serve me breakfast in bed. If you're a mom that also appreciates being served breakfast cooked by someone other than yourself, you might want to pass along this Orange French Toast recipe from Golden Blossom Honey to the family as a hint on what would be a welcomed gift for mom's special day.

I made this for the family the other day. It was a chilly, drizzling day out and Jason had the doors open. With the nip in the air and the the gloomy skies, the scent of this dish baking in the oven about knocked me off of my feet. The aroma of cinnamon and spices swirled in the air and it smelled soooo good! It made me feel like we were on the cusp of autumn instead of the brink of the sweltering summer months. I couldn't wait to dive in! Mamas, you deserve to be spoiled on Mother's Day (and any other day for that matter) with this divine Orange French Toast. Have it now, then make it again in the fall. You'll be glad that you did.

  1. That looks rather delish and lovely and the plate is hilarious indeed. My fave gift is probably honey because you can never have enough of that. I also love to receive fruit and veggies as weird as it sounds, it just makes me happy. For example, our neighbour had a big pumpkin last winter in her garden and she gave it to us because she did not need it, it was such a lovely gift and I'm still eating it, as I grated it and got about 6 or 7 bags for the freezer. So basically, I love when I get for free something that I would buy otherwise as well LOL

  2. Lol at your daughter, but I guess weed IS a consumable! Yes, I’ve been telling my family to get me consumables for the last 10 years. My faves are candles and hand cream. But I love any gift from TJMaxx!

  10. I know that feeling when the air is crisp and something delicious is cooking/baking in the kitchen. This does look wonderful. Happy Mother's Day if I don't talk to you before!

  11. I agree! The trinkets collecting dust get to be a bit much. A clean house and breakfast that I don’t have to make sound like a win for me. On a side note, I’m in love with that plate. “Diet tomorrow” seems to be the theme of the past year..
