Apple Topping For All Of Your Fall Favorites

I've been in an apple everything phase lately. It really is my favorite flavor of fall, so why not indulge as much as possible while the fruit is in season? There are so many ways to use apples in your recipes, but lately my favorite way is to whip up a scrumptious Apple Topping, a Golden Blossom Honey recipe, to use on everything from waffles to cheesecake to ice cream.

One batch is enough to cover about 4-5 medium sized waffles, but I like to double the recipe so I have leftovers for my after dinner dessert. If your mixture is looking a little thin, as in you eyeballed the apple cider measurement (guilty!), mix a teaspoon of cornstarch in a teaspoon of water until dissolved, then stir into the simmering mixture.  Also, if you really want to sweeten it up, drizzle a little caramel into the pot for an extra hit of fall flavor. So, so good!

You can find this recipe, as well as many more delicious recipes right on the Golden Blossom Honey recipe page! Be sure to follow Golden Blossom Honey on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on new products and promotions.

If you like this recipe, be sure to come back every Friday, where I feature a new recipe from Golden Blossom Honey!

What's your favorite dessert fruit topping?

  1. Oh, waffles ... this is my favorite. And I often come to one of the fast food restaurants on purpose to buy waffles with different toppings every time I buy them. This waffle with apple topping from you, I want to try making it yourself at my house.

Thank you for this delicious recipe, Theresa.

  3. Those photos look so juicy and delicious and cosy! I imagine we will be getting a lot of apple, caramel, cinnamon scented thingies in the shops ahead of the Holiday season. We had apple flavoured cookies last year, I think. We used to have apple cinnamon flavoured instant coffee too, but not any more. My fave chocolate Schogetten have new cinnamon rolls chocolate this year, but it hasn't arrived here yet :) Last year they had apple pie ones.

    1. We've got a ton of the apple, caramel and pumpkin scented things starting in early September. It feels like they are already trying to push winter scents on us now though.

  4. My favorite would be cherries, but I’ve been making lots of apple treats lately.

    1. Cherry pie is my favorite, but I don't bake with them too often, sadly. I need to do that more often!

  5. This sounds delicious and like the only thing you’re missing is some vanilla ice cream! I’m not big on dessert toppings. Can I say sprinkles? Lol

    1. I'm sure it's still pretty warm where you're at, so it's probably hard to get into the fall spirit until the chilly temps kick in. If I were by you, I'd still be sipping fruity drinks and soaking in the sun LOL!

  7. Ken loves apple crumble and I think this would be great on that.

  8. Sounds like a winner. I enjoy apples, when I could eat them without stupid acid reflux flaring up.

    1. Yes, apples are so bad when you have to deal with acid reflux :(

  10. I'm sure I could eat an apple topping like this just out of the jar with a spoon, but I like your suggestion of putting it on waffles. I also like your suggestion of adding a bit of caramel.

    1. I'll admit, I did eat a few scoops right out of the jar. I mean, if you're the cook, who is going to stop you? LOL

  13. This looks good. I never thought to put apples on a waffle like that. I've only done that topping on oatmeal. Mica and I would like it. Travis and Isaak are odd, and sometimes don't even use syrup on their waffles.

    1. I don't use syrup on my waffles, but I always have to have either butter or a fruit topping. Whipped cream, too, of course!
