Cocoa For Chocolate Lovers On A Cold Winter Day!

*Disclosure- I received the mentioned product courtesy of the sponsor for the purpose of this review. All opinions are genuine, based on my experience with the product, and have not been influenced by promotional items.

My gosh, it is COLD! I have been freezing out of my ever-loving mind all week! The kids only had school twice last week due to the freezing temperatures. We have been busy chugging away at our basement remodel, but I have decided that this weekend I am going to stay under the covers, curl up with a few good books, and sip on some rich chocolatey hot cocoa. I remember my mom making huge batches of homemade hot cocoa when I was a kid, and it was so scrumptious! Nothing beats the flavor of a good pot of homemade hot cocoa! I was intrigued when I saw this Cocoa For Chocolate Lovers recipe on Golden Blossom Honey.

It called for an addition of cinnamon, which I have never had in my cocoa, and I was curious how well it was going to taste mixed into the drink. It turns out, I loved it! The cinnamon adds an overall warmth to the flavor, leaving me wondering why I haven't tried cinnamon in cocoa before.

Ingredients
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1 tablespoon GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash of salt

My girls love to have a glass of cocoa to warm up after spending time playing out in the snow. I hope they have such fond memories of mama's homemade hot cocoa that I serve them, thanks to the delicious recipe I got from Golden Blossom Honey!

Frozen White Hot Chocolate

I am not a fan of winter. If I had my way, it would be summer year round where I live. What I do love to do most on a cold winter day is whip up a batch of hot cocoa and settle in with a good book. I’ve had such a sweet tooth lately, but with the really hot summer we are having, even just thinking about sipping a cup of hot chocolate is almost unbearable. However, if you are a regular reader, you know that I love me some drink recipes, and where there is a will, there’s a way. I have to be careful how often I make these because they are SUPER YUMMY! I could drink them all day!

Frozen White Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients:

6 half-ounce pieces of high quality white chocolate (I use Baker's)
2 tbs half and half
1 envelope store bought hot chocolate mix
1 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
3 cups ice
Whipped cream (optional)
Chocolate shavings (optional)

Place the white chocolate pieces and the half and half into a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 1 minute, stopping to stir half way through. Continue to heat until melted and smooth. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended. Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk and stir until smooth. Cool to room temperature.
In a blender place the remaining cup of milk, the room temperature chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Hot Chocolate Popcorn

One of our families favorite things to do on the weekends is family movie night. What family movie night wouldn't be complete without popcorn? Plain popcorn just doesn't work in this house. It always has to have a little something sweet thrown in, like M&M's or Reece's Pieces. Nothing is yummier than that salty and sweet combo! This is one of my all time favorite sweet popcorn recipes. Be warned, it is very addicting!

Hot Cocoa Popcorn Recipe

Ingredients:

2 bags regular or lightly buttered microwave popcorn, popped and kernels removed
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 packet powdered hot chocolate mix
1 12oz bag Wilton vanilla candy melts
1/4 cup melted semi sweet chocolate.

Directions:

Mixed popped pop corn and marshmallows together in a large bowl.
Melt candy melts according to package directions.
Pour melted candy over popcorn/marshmallow mixture. Stir to coat popcorn.
Spread mixture over waxed paper and immediately sprinkle with powdered cocoa mix.
Drizzle melted semi sweet chocolate over top.
Let set until all candy and chocolate have hardened. Serve.
Store in an air tight container.
