From weddings to graduations and everything in-between, we're officially in summer party season. If you're looking for a tasty treat for your gatherings, do I have something special for you today! The inspiration for today's share came a few weeks ago when we were in Minnesota at the Mall of America and we spotted this cute little French inspired bistro inside. While I was in a hurry and didn't have a chance to sample their delicacies that day, it did spark some memories from our trip to Paris years ago and how I still dream about all of their amazing pastries to this day, especially the fruit-filled ones. So when I saw this
Fresh Berry Chocolate Tart recipe on Golden Blossom Honey, I figured it was going to be as close as I was going to get to French pastries without the expensive plane ticket across the pond.
The secret to this delightful dessert is using a pre-made sheet of frozen puff pastry. Because honestly, unless it's your profession, nobody has time for making homemade pastry dough. A thin layer of chocolate and fresh summer berries will top the golden, flaky crust, making it a decadent seasonal treat that will be the highlight of the dessert table at any gathering. Nobody needs to know how easy this is to make, either. It never hurts to let them think you're just as good as the French when it comes to beautiful and delicious pastries! I'll keep your secret if you keep mine.
Ingredients
1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed (half of 17 1/4 ounce package)
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon sugar
3 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 cup blackberries or blueberries
1 cup strawberries, hulled and cut in half lengthwise
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

How many summer parties do you plan on attending this year?
That dessert is right up my alley! We attended an epic retirement party last weekend. 80 people and the catering was great. We are hosting my husband’s work team in July. Other than that, I can’t think of any parties besides family get togethers.
ReplyDelete80 people is quite the gathering! Hope the retiree had a great sendoff!
DeleteThat is so gorgeous, dahlink, you have outdone yourself for a millionth time, it is breathtaking. Is that some yummy lookin chocolate in the right top corner? LOL I have never been to a summer party in my life, but then again nobody is inviting me to any parties LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, that's a bit of chocolate up there in the corner. Ghirardelli had great chocolate for baking. I don't think you'd like a summer party. They are too hot and I don't think you'd like to eat those potluck type dishes anyway. I know I avoid a lot of the foods other's bring, unless it's in a store bought package. You never know how nasty some people's kitchen are and I'm not trusting.
DeleteSummer parties, Me? None. lol I'm having one small party for my daughter's birthday in a couple of days. That's it. I'm way too introverted to be going to parties. lol
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! I would definitely eat that. It's so pretty it looks like art.
Thank you, Mary! I am also starting to become more introverted and skip out on parties, myself. I do hope your daughter had a lovely birthday!
DeleteSomeone was rude to me in a French pastry shop because I spent too long (and it wasn't even long) looking at what they had for sale. -_- This looks good and I too, love a fruit-filled sweet treat. What was the Mall of America like? Worth a trip there?
ReplyDeleteWell poo on the rude person. I'd spend all day making a selection in a French pastry shop. Everything is so good, I'd want to make sure I was getting the best of the best.
DeletePersonally, I didn't find the Mall of America very exciting. It was just 3 levels of the same shops you can find elsewhere, but with a small amusement park in the middle. Definitely not a place I ever need to return to, but if you're already going to MN, I feel like it's one of those tourist places you have to stop at just to say that you did.
Gracias por la receta. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteEase to make sure is a win. Yeah, avoiding expensive plane tickets is good too. Not sure you could get the cats and moose dog across the pond haha Jason you could probably get across though.
ReplyDeleteMight be a few parties of 3, or 4 as I've got a new charge, a few times this summer, but that's it for me.
So, you're having to do kiddy parties this summer? That sounds way more fun than adult parties!
DeleteI'll row their butts across the pond if I have to LOL
Very few parties I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteWife got breast cancer last year and had a bad flap reconstruction surgery back in February
So in August we're going to New Orleans for the best surgeon possible
