I hope you all had a nice Christmas earlier this week. It was a full week of family gatherings, food and lots of love for us here, and as much as I loved every minute of it, I am now exhausted! But just because Christmas is over and you're probably already finished, or will soon start tearing down the holiday decorations, that doesn't mean we still don't have one more noteworthy celebration to plan for before 2024 is upon us. New Year's Eve has always been one of my favorite days of the year. Probably because I'm a night owl, and probably because we tend to stay in and play board games and eat rubbish all night until the ball drops. And as I sit here making my junk food list for grocery pick up for this year's shindig, I've decided to put ingredients into my cart for Holiday Wassail too. This Golden Blossom Honey recipe is usually drunk during the holidays with a toast to good health, and I can't think of a better way to end the year than with wishes of good health tossed into the universe and hope it manifests into the New Year.

Yes, I know. Eating junk food all night then hoping it manifests into good health is a bit oxymoronic, but people still play the lottery each week and eventually good fortune hits, so I'm just going to go with that wishful thinking for now lol. If you have leftover cranberries from your holiday meal, what better way to use them up than with a warm, fruity drink? Cranberries are a superfood, high in antioxidants, iron, potassium and Vitamin C. They are awesome for UTI symptoms and help boost the immune system. As Covid is ramping back up again, we could all use a little help keeping our systems in tippy top shape. This drink is packed full of so many amazingly nutritious ingredients, how can you not hope for good health when toasting out well wishes with this tasty beverage in hand? I don't think a few extra chocolates or chips on NYE is going to take me down when I have Holiday Wassail on my side.

Ingredients

1 (64 ounce) bottle cranberry juice cocktail

1/2 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

8 dried apricot halves

1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries

1/4 cup raisins

8 whole cloves

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

10 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks, divided

  1. Never heard of Wassail before don't even know how to pronounce it LOL
Glad to hear you had nice holidays, we are still not done with them as there is also Orthodox Christmas on January 7th and the New Year celebrations at the city square. Given that bastard dictator has rigged elections even worse than ever before don't think anybody will be in the mood especially as our opposition leader has been on hunger strike for ten days now and the world does not give a damn about it.... We are blocking whole Belgrade today, all day long!

    1. I'm sorry that the holidays are a mess for your country. How did the blocking of Belgrade go? We do not get news of the protests there, sadly. It's like the find one or two things to hyper focus on here and the rest of the world doesn't get coverage.

  2. See, now I have to quote you, because this is as true as a blue duck in winter: "Eating junk food all night then hoping it manifests into good health is a bit oxymoronic, but people still play the lottery each week and eventually good fortune hits..." I couldn't agree more, Theresa.

    Have fun :)

    1. Quote away, dearest Blue. I'm not the brightest berry in the patch though, so you're taking a risk when you use my words LOL

  3. Sure has quite the great list of ingredients to help boost the immune system indeed. But umm your lottery comparison is a tad off lol of all the people that play like 0.00001% win. But hey, I won't burst any more bubbles today.

  4. Cranberries and Apricots are 2 of the best fruits ever made. I love them both. This is my first to hear of the drink, but I'm all for manifesting good health! I'm glad you had a nice holiday. Happy New Year to you!

    1. I agree! The best fruits ever! Here's hoping you have a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year, Rosey! I'm sad because I thought I'd get to come to Florida this January and see if you wanted to lunch while I was there, but alas, Jason is going without me this time so I can build my online shop. Pft. Some day, my friend. Some day.

  5. It's so funny that this year I had Wassail for the first time in 20 some odd years. I first tried it when I was invited to a Progressive dinner where you go from house to house and have successive courses, from appetizers to dessert and everything in between. At each home you play games or tell stories and every home had a big punch bowl filled with warm Wassail and I loved it. Right before Christmas I was visiting Trader Joe's and I saw that they sell a Wassail Punch that you can have hot or cold, mix with wine or have it straight so I bought a bottle of it and had some with my nieces and sister on Christmas Eve, warm with wine and poured over fresh orange slices, it was fabulous! I've never had it made from scratch like your recipe, I will have to try it! Happy New Year to you!

    1. That house to house tradition sounds like so much fun! I should see if my neighbors would like to do that this Christmas. Or even as a summertime activity. I didn't know Trader Joes has Wassail. Now I am going to have to look for it when I'm there next.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!

  11. We don't have the lottery here in Nevada or I might play every once in a while. I would have to go to California to get a lottery ticket.

    1. You can't walk 10 feet without running into something with the lottery here. It's everywhere in Indiana. I wonder if it's because you have the casinos there in NV and they don't want the gambling competition?

  12. Where’s the booze in that wassail? LOL! I’m just missing alcohol right now. I hope your new year is amazing! XO
