It's hard to believe that it's about time to start planning our Thanksgiving menus. Thankfully, I get off almost free this year since our oldest is set on making the dinner at her place. And I am grateful for that since we'll have just endured a 16 hour car ride to get to her new home, planning and executing a huge holiday dinner won't be high on my list of things I'm going to want to do once we arrive. However, I will more than likely make an appetizer plus a dessert, but I will go as simple as possible on each of those. After browsing Golden Blossom Honey's recipes this week, I found the most perfect, most simple, and most delicious appetizer that shot straight to the top of my non-existent holiday menu: Honey Nut Brie

So much of what goes on the Thanksgiving table requires a lot of prep, but not this recipe! This is a 10 minute from start to finish appetizer that is simple, yet elegant. Toss some party crackers on a plate and slice some apples and pears while the brie is baking and you've got an appetizer to wow a crowd. Fresh out of the oven, ooey, gooey cheese piled on crackers and fruit slices is really all this girl needs to be thankful this year.

Ingredients

14 ounces Brie cheese
1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1/4 cup pecans, chopped

  1. Is it cheaper to drive by car 16 hours than buy an airplane ticket? Or do you do it for fun and sightseeing while on the road?

    1. It is cheaper to drive. Normally we'd fly, but we're taking all of the pets this time and renting an AirBNB, so we're not paying to fly the animals too. If we were only going for a weekend I would pay the neighbor boy to take care of the animals, but we'll be gone for 10 days and that's a bit too long to have someone else watch them for us.

    2. You are taking Emmykins as well??? Oh, my, I've never seen a cat travelling well LOL bet she will kill you somewhere along the way LOL

    3. Yes, Emmykins is going along with the other two kittens. I expect it to be a holy horror of a shitshow driving across the country with 3 cats in tow. If I come back dead, you'll know why LOL

  2. It’s difficult to get my family to change it up, so we will likely just have the same old for Thanksgiving. Since I was just diagnosed with prediabetes (with a bmi of only 19, no less) it’s a carb fest nightmare for me. I’ll be eating salad!

    1. Honestly, salad is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. That and canned cranberry sauce.

10 mins is a win. 16 hour drive though, blah.

    1. I don't like it cold. Heated in the oven though, I really enjoy it melted.

  8. 16 hours is a hike! Of course, the family time will be worth the drive. I love that your daughter's making one of the biggest meals of the year!! There was a restaurant we used to go to when we lived up north that had a brie appetizer like this. It was so good. The only difference was it used apricots instead of the pecans. I think I'd like it both ways.

    1. Apricots added to this dish would be soooo good. I am definitely going to try that!
