The recipe that I'm going to share with you today I didn't have planned to post about for a few more weeks. I did a trial run on Golden Blossom Honey's Pear and Cranberry Tartlets last week for something new to add to our Thanksgiving menu this year, snapped my pics, got them edited and stored them in my saved files on my laptop thinking that's where they would stay for a few more weeks.

But then something happened this week that demanded all of my attention and I didn't get around to making the recipe that I had originally earmarked for this Friday's post. What could have pulled me away from my happy place, the kitchen? A 1 pound ball of fur, that's what. I want you all to meet my new baby, Emily.

I've never been a cat person, always opting to have dogs, but maybe it's because I've been grand-mothering my daughter's kitties the last few years, they have kind of grown on me. Emily was an animal dump and run that my aunt found on her farm, and how anyone could have left this sweet bundle on the side of the road is beyond me. She just wants all the cuddles. So, I apologize for speeding up this recipe, but I figured you would all let it slide for this good cause. This year we'll have something extra to be thankful for, in the unexpected gift of Emily. And what sweeter way to celebrate this year's blessings than with some delicious fall flavored tartlets?

The Pear and Cranberry Tartlets combine some of the best fall flavors into bite sized discs of bliss. And because you use prepared puff pastry sheets, there's minimal effort needed to whip these up for your dinner guests. Looking over the recipe, I knew that for our trial run it would be fine to run it as is for the 3 of us in the household, but for Thanksgiving, if there's more than 5 guests on your list, you're going to want to double it because these will go fast!

Ingredients

1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1 tablespoon apricot preserves
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but still cold
1 medium Bartlett pear
2 tablespoons dried cranberries, finely chopped
2 tablespoons pine nuts

  1. Looks lovely and I like the combo of apricots and pears and berries and honey!
Why didn't you just keep Grand Prince Dezzimir two weeks ago? Not that I don't like Emily, so cute! How is she getting along with da dogs? We gave away Vlasta's kids Kosta and Gavriel so now Vlasta and Dzelyana are alone again.

    1. I felt guilty giving him to the rescue because Allison was really upset about it, otherwise I probably would not have taken Emily in. We saw one of his siblings running down the road tonight. If I ever end up catching him, we'll have 2 cats LOL

  2. No, I’m taking one day at a time. Halloween weekend has my full attention! Your Kitty is cute, but I’m a dog person as well. Those tarts look scrumptious. I hate apricots but love apricot preserves and jam. Isn’t that weird?

    1. It's not weird at all! There are so many things that I hate as made by the earth but love it when it's turned into something else.

  6. I'm all in on this one!! It looks delicious and I'm having way too much fun saying the word "tartlets". Good luck with the kitty! Rescues are the best if you have the time to rehabilitate. She's a cutie for sure (but I'm scratching my eyes just from looking at the picture). We haven't started planning the menu yet, but I will once Halloween passes.
