Now that Easter is behind us, we're getting pretty excited for Cinco de Mayo, no? I can almost taste the tacos and guac right now. Us in the Mahoney family aren't known for practicing good eating habits on the holiday, but as long as there's a little something healthy on the table, who can complain? It's all about striking a decent balance, or so they say. This year, I will be passing up the margaritas and reaching for Agua Fresca instead. While I haven't tried my hand at making it myself, I found this Melon Agua Fresca in the recipe section on Golden Blossom Honey, and it sounded easy enough.

Agua Fresca

What's fun about this recipe is that you can use any fruit combination that you like. I stuck with cantaloupe for this blog post because that's what the recipe called for, but you can certainly replace the cantaloupe with your favorite fruit and it will work beautifully. I'm thinking with summer rolling around, I can't wait when watermelon starts to pop up because it would be so perfect in this agua fresca recipe. As soon as my blueberry bushes start to fruit, I'm also going to try blueberry pomegranate. Maybe even strawberry kiwi. Really, the possibilities are endless here! Best of all, it's a healthy drink, so that leaves more room to gorge on a few extra tacos!

Ingredients
3 cups water
1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM RAW HONEY
1 cantaloupe, peeled, seeded and chopped
grated zest of 1 lime
juice of 1 lime

  2. OMG that is so gorgeous, dahlink, you are back to your usual amazing photoself :) You might stick a bit with the white background this year, it is very refreshing!
It's been 36*C yesterday, I just about thought I'd die, and it is ever worse today! It is totally unholy for April!
It is Orthodox Easter this weekend here and then May Day next week, which is non working always.... except for me, of course :)
I'd put raspberries in this one since you've asked :) Or bananas!

    1. Thanks dahlink. I have been using the white background more frequently as summer approaches. I do a lot of darker in the winter months it seems. Just goes with the mood I suppose.

It's still quite chilly here. I only have 3 out of all 60 of my tulips pop up so far, which is odd because they are always out of the ground before Easter. I'd love to have those hellish hot days here already. Wanna trade?

Sorry you have to work, but I guess that will keep you out of trouble ;)

Yasss! Raspberries would be so yum here. Blackberries too!
