Ham It Up This Easter

I am not feeling very prepared to tackle Easter this weekend. I didn't put up any decorations this year and what's worse, I still haven't bought anything for the girl's baskets. We aren't even discussing filling the plastic eggs with candy. I think the long winter got the best of me this year and I'm still really dragging behind. I did, however, make sure our dinner menu was planned out, so at least there's that. Of course, there will be ham on the table because it wouldn't be a holiday without it. If you're anything like me when it comes to cooking, there is always a ton leftover. So, I thought I'd pass along this Ham Spread from Golden Blossom Honey that is perfect for those leftover portions.

Ham Spread

While this spread would be great for next day sandwiches, if your Easter day dinner ham is done before your guests arrive, this recipe is so easy, you could quickly whip up a batch to use as an appetizer spread. It's great on crackers and cucumbers. And, since it is ground up, it's a lot easier for little mouths to enjoy ham without the choking hazard a slice on the plate presents.

Ham Spread

Ingredients
1 pound cooked ham, cut into pieces
1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY MUSTARD
1/4 cup lite mayonnaise
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3 Tablespoons onion, minced
3 Tablespoons sweet pickle relish

I saw that one of my local supermarkets has vegan ham spirals on sale this week and entertained the idea of buying myself one. Now, I tried vegan ham slices for sandwiches a few months back and didn't like it, but if anyone here has ever tried the Tofurkey Ham Roast and think it's worth a go, let me know in the comments section. I do miss getting to enjoy all of the leftover meals we used to make with our extra Easter ham and if this is a suitable replacement for the real deal, I'd hate to miss out!

  1. You did such a lovely setting on the photos, dearest. 'tis very lovely and pretty, I love it when you make a lovely clutter in the photos.
Whaaat? You is not dying eggs today? The scandal! Hope you still have a lovely weekend with your lovelies.
I had smoked tofu yesterday for lunch, breaded in breadcrumbs and sesame with zucchinni and garlic mash as the sidedish. And today, it's broccoli and zucchini and garlic soup. My city is the only one in the country that celebrates this Easter so it is a non working four day holiday for the citizens and spring break till April 10th for kids.
Dezzy will be toiling of course... no ham nor eggs nor Easter bunny for this little Dezziver Twist :(

    1. I may let the girls dye the eggs tomorrow. Mariah will only be here for half of the weekend, so we'll see how time goes.
I tried to like tofu, but it's one of those foods I could live without. I may try air frying it sometime with some paprika and see if that works for me.
Non working holidays are nice. It's not a federal holiday here, so everyone works except the teachers. Allison will be out of school for the rest of the week and all of next week. I'm sure I'll have all of her friends over giving me a headache all week. You know how loud teenage girls can be :P Wanna trade places? I'd rather translate than get stuck listening to them lol

    2. I'm in :) I'd rather gossip with them kids for a week on how dreamy Nick Robinson and Nick Jonas are than spend another day with Casandra Claire and her pathetic overload of sugary crap :)

  12. Awww, it reminded me of my gram. She always made a ham spread that everyone in the family said they loved. She did it everytime ham was on the dinner table (a few times a year). :) Happy Easter to you and yours!!
