When you think of spring break, you usually think relaxation, right? I know I do. But, this spring break has been anything but relaxing, I actually can't wait for it to be over. It's been a week of extra kids at our house, birthday parties, tween girl drama, and to top it all off, prom dress shopping. I never went to prom, so I didn't realize how freaking stressful shopping for that perfect dress would be. Those of you who only have boys, consider yourself very, very lucky.

When I feel overly stressed, like I have this week, I like to calm myself with baking. I am trying my best to shed 10 pounds before summer hits, so baking up cookies or cake wasn't going to cut it. Quick bread sounded like it would be a good option, so I browsed around on Golden Blossom Honey for a bit, until I ran across this Orange Walnut Bread recipe. It looked like a warm, satisfying comfort food that I so needed to end my week with.

Orange Walnut Bread

The warm, citrus notes in this bread are so satisfying. And, your house will smell incredible as it is baking! A slice of this and a warm cup of tea put me in my happy place. It makes a perfect snack when you need to steal a few minutes away for yourself.

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1/4 cup butter
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon orange zest
3/4 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

  2. A prom dress? Oh, my, we will have to choose something really nice :) And she ain't a dressy lass, right?
The bread does look nom! Although that is an expensive amount of honey in it :) We had some honey on discount a few weeks ago so I bought me two 1kg jars for supplies :)

    1. No, she's not a dressy girl at all. I think that's why it was so hard to find something. Plus, she wanted a lavender dress, so we were really limited on options. We did find one on our 6th boutique stop though. It's simple, yet classy, and cost twice what I wanted to pay for a dress. I'll see if I can get her to put it on this weekend and will send you a sneak preview on Facebook :)

    2. I think it was wonderful. I think next time I'm going to add some cranberries too. I saw some big fat ones at the grocery store this weekend, and they'd be an awesome addition. And prom night will make the dress worth every penny. ;)

  4. All I know about prom dresses is they can be expensive. Good luck shopping. That bread surely must go over well indeed.

    1. Expensive, indeed! Jason was not thrilled at the cost of the one she picked out, but it seemed to be a lot cheaper than many of the others on the racks.

  9. That bread looks delicious! I never thought of adding orange to my bread! And I want you to know I feel your pain with the whole prom dress shopping thing! When my oldest went to prom the first year, we spent hours searching for the perfect dress. There were a whole lot of tears involved. I've had to shop for a prom dress with one or both of my oldest 2 daughters for the last 5 years and I'm so thankful I have another 8 years before my 3rd child is old enough for prom!
