Halloween 2015 Recap

I'm sad it's over, but I'd say Halloween 2015 = Success!! We really tried to make the most of the holiday this year. We did early trick-or-treating last week in a neighboring town, so really, we got double the holiday! I took Allison and her friend to the church for trunk-or-treat on Friday, where they collected quite a few goodies, then they served the community a free hot dog dinner.

This year, Mariah and her boyfriend tagged along on Halloween night. After getting sucked into Beauty & the Beast costumes last year, he insisted on a more "manly" theme, so it was Star Wars for them this year.

Homemade Star Wars Costume

Even with all the fun, it wouldn't be Halloween without a few tricks. I always enjoy laughing at some of the questionable goodies that get tossed into the sacks each year. What made the list this year?

House 1- Used Happy Meal Toys
House 2- Fortune Cookies and Mints
House 3- Easter Candy. They passed out 4 chocolate bunnies, 2 boxes of Peeps and 2 boxes of Robin Eggs to each child.
House 4- Religious Pamphlets, which were pretty frightening. Mariah said she felt quite stressed after reading through it.

It did rain all night, which was a nasty little trick from Mother Nature, but the kids were real troopers stomping through the neighborhood most of the night to collect their goodies, only giving up 20 minutes until TOT ended. Overall, it was a fabulous holiday for all.

What funnies did you find in your treat sacks this year?

  1. haha Star Wars is more manly indeed haha

Wow, I suppose easter stuff is still good to eat. But religious nuts and their crap? Geez. Maybe a good fortune will come due too lol

  3. What? Religious pamphlets? Oh, boy, did that house deserve a bit of egg missiles!
At least son in law wasn't cold in that fury costume :) I can't believe it is still so warm over there... I went to town today full winter outfit in about five layers or so :)

    1. We get those religious pamphlets from at least one house every year. I usually throw them out when going through their candy, but they got to them first this year.
Luke was a bit of a whine ass in that costume. First he couldn't see, then the rain soaked it, so it was really heavy. He took it off after about 30 minutes and just went door-to-door in sweatpants.

    2. I can imagine it certainly ain't easy being a Chewbacca!
In other news, some lil' bastards threw an egg on our house on Saturday even though we don't even have Halloween here... any ideas how to clean it up? :) Our walls aren't smooth, so it's almost next to impossible. I'd strangle them brats if I discover who it was.

    3. Oh noes! That's terrible! I wonder if a hot water and Dawn dish soap solution would take it off? I do a lot of heavy duty cleaning with a vinegar and lemon oil mixture that seems to get greasy gunk out of my kitchen. That may work. If not, you may just have to repaint. I will never understand the joy others get out of causing property damage.

    4. But see that is the problem, it ain't easy to repaint, because it was sprayed on our walls and the paint has a gravely texture, it ain't smooth and can't be painted with a brush and some paint, we paid tons of money for it so that we wouldn't have to paint again for next 20 years because it sticks very well to the walls. That is why it ain't a small damage adn why I'd like to beat the crap out of those brats and their parents especially :) And they hit it so high that I can't even reach it even if I tried.

    5. I'd say those brats definitely deserve a good smack down! Did a lot of people in the neighborhood get hit, or was it just your house?

    6. I've no idea, I don't mingle with the neighbours LOL

    7. Hahaha! Just like me. Jason waves at them all and I just kind of duck my head down when I pass them.

  4. Religious pamphlets? That's outrageously scary and offensive. But I'll take the Robin's eggs if your gals don't want them. Smiles.
    Have a great week, Theresa.

  5. That's crazy about the religious pamphlets and the Easter candy! The only odd thing that happened on my end when handing candy out was a mom offering me an Avon catalog. I declined.

Mica had a blast. He went trick-or-treating with a friend in a group with Travis and the kid's parents. Isaak was supposed to go with them to. Last minute one of his friend's Dad showed up. He was on a riding mower, with something attached to carry the kids, a hay bail, and a blow up Frankenstein. At the time it looked fun, so Isaak went with them. Then he quickly realized that they weren't able to get out and walk up to houses easy, the hay was getting stuck in his wig, and the blow up Frankenstein was falling on him. He wished he went with Mica's group. Oh well.

Your kids look great in their costumes! I like the Star Wars theme!

    1. Too bad Isaak didn't have that great of an experience, though I probably would have thought it would have been a better option too. Glad Mica had a great time though!

  12. Oh my - I had to laugh at your tricks...we didn't get anything but candy this year, except for one pack of Halloween tattoos. I can't believe the religious pamphlets - I guess they figured everyone would be coming to their door instead of them having to go knock on everyone else's to hand out their propaganda. Crazy!!
