Mike Wazowski Mini Pumpkin

I hate carving pumpkins. Absolutely HATE it! My carved pumpkins usually end up looking like a mangled mess, so I've passed the pumpkin carving duties on to my husband. I prefer to paint them, so each year I get a mini pumpkin and craft it up.

Last year we made this spider pumpkin:

This year my girls were really into the movie Monster's University, so we made a Mike Wazowski pumpkin!

All we needed was some lime green felt, pipe cleaners, and some lime green craft paint to get the job done.

We started by removing the stem, then painting the pumpkin green. Once dried, we cut down the pipe cleaners for the arms and legs and horns, attaching them to the body with some hot glue. We cut hands and feet out of the felt, attaching them to the pipe cleaner with a dab more of the hot glue. Paint an eye and mouth on, and voila! A Mike Wazowski Halloween Pumpkin was born.

Do you like to carve or paint your pumpkins?

  11. I love your monster. We paint, or carve on them sometimes. It's not an every year thing. Last year we had a non profit that wanted our students to paint on some foam ones as a fundraiser. The trouble was is that it was during our students break. Hardly any students that said they were coming, came. I ended up painting 10 of them.

  13. That turned out so cute... you are pretty artistic. I could paint it green but the rest would look like a 2 year old did it.

  20. That is one cute pumpkin you created for your children! I, unfortunately am not that crafty--nor am I any good at carving pumpkins. Now eating them--that is a different story all together-YUM. Of course, even though I am not a fan of spiders-that one would be perfect to greet little trick or treaters!

  30. These mini pumpkin crafts are adorable. My husband is usually the one who carves the Jack O' Lanterns with my two boys and every year I am afraid that they are all going to cut a finger off. I'm sure my boys would enjoy creating these with the paints and the art materials.
