Our Disney Trip!

Most of you know that we went on a family trip to Disney World last week. There really aren't any new tips or tricks I can share with you that haven't already been covered, but I am excited to share some photos with you :)

We spent 3 days at Disney and 2 days at Universal Studios. The very first thing we saw at Disney was Cinderella's Castle. It is breathtaking in person! At night you can't keep your eyes off of it. They have the lights set up to change color every few minutes. It's really a site to behold!

We met some cool characters-

Lucille Ball!

Marilyn Monroe♥

Allison was thrilled to meet most of the princesses!

But the highlight for Mariah was meeting Princess Adalia Rose. We saw her at Disney on our 3rd day. She was in line to have her picture taken with Tigger, but Mariah could not muster up the courage to go say hello. She ended up kicking herself all day for missing her opportunity. As dumb luck would have it, they sat on the bench next to us during the Beetlejuice show the next day at Universal Studios. As soon as the show was over, Adalia and her mom were gracious enough to stop for a minute to say hello.

Disney is building a new wing of the park in 2014 called Fantasyland. They have a few bits of it open now, but the rest should be done next year. This was my favorite section of the park. I really felt like I was in a storybook. Here you will find Belle's Castle and Ariel's Grotto. I believe there will be a Snow White attraction also, but it wasn't open for us.

We did spend extra money for the Mickey's Christmas Spectacular. It was worth every penny! The lines were so short, we were walking right up to the rides with no wait time, and the character meet and greets we only waited about 10 minutes for each. If there is an extra show when you are going, I would highly recommend paying the extra for the extended park hours. Those 5 hours were the best of all the time we spent at the parks!

We also visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I feel I am on photo overload here, so I will save that adventure for another post.

I would suggest to anyone who has not visited Disney, make sure you schedule some down time between your days. We had 5 days jam packed with activities, which resulted in Allison having a massive breakdown on the 3rd and 4th day. Seriously, if the child sprouted horns and a tail, I wouldn't have been surprised. We should have added an extra day for everyone to catch up on sleep and just relax. Otherwise, the trip was more wonderful than I could have hoped for :)

Have you vacationed at Disney? What was your favorite part?

  1. LOVE all your pictures!! So happy that you guys had a great time. We go to Disney every year - the last time we were there was this past August. By now, we've seen and done just about everything, so our trips are a little more laid back and we end up spending more time in the pool at our resort (we always stay at Caribbean Beach). The Magic Kingdom is always our first park and Pirates of the Caribbean is always our traditional first ride. I would have to say eating is my favorite thing about doing Disney - the food down there is so amazing. We eat at Chef Mickey's and Teppan Edo in Japan every year, but always try to add in some new restaurants.

    1. Pirates of the Caribbean was broke the first two days we were there. I was so disappointed thinking I wasn't going to get to ride it. We finally got to at the end of our 3rd day, and wow, it was a good one!

I am so jealous you get to go every year! It is such an awesome place!

  2. All of the pictures are great, and they're building a new addition, hurrah hurrah! I know I'll love going to Belle's Castle.

It's neat that your youngest dressed as Cinderella. And is your oldest daughter taller than you?? LOLOL :)

It's awesome that you had such a wonderful time, I'm really happy for you!! Thanks for sharing the pics. Looking forward to the H.Potter follow-up. :)

    1. Rosey, you know, I noticed Allison got more attention from the cast members when she was dressed as Cinderella than in her street clothes. The Fairy Godmother singled her out in the parade, made a heart with her fingers, pointed to her, then blew her a kiss! Alice in Wonderland ran over to her to compliment her dress. It just seemed a little more magical when she had her dress on.

And yes, I believe my oldest is almost taller than me :(

    2. I totally forgot the star treatment but you're right! My daughter had a Mickey Mouse dress on (I think she was 4 or 5?) and Mickey took her hand and took off walking with her! We had to run to keep up and so many people were crowding it made me nervous, lol.

  4. Theresa! hi!
thank you for the wonderful details and photos of your vaca! i had to chuckle at "Seriously, if the child sprouted horns and a tail, I wouldn't have been surprised." poor tired kids.

I get soooo exhausted at Disneyland/California Adventure. The past 3 times I have gone, i rent a scooter, even tho i could walk it just fine, but cart helps me getting tired and I am one chipper park-goer at the end of the day. oh yes we must have a day between now days, too. I love Disneyland but I have to manage my stays or i would grow horns and a tail, too! LOL!!!!

    1. I like the idea of renting a scooter. My feet were so swollen from all the walking. That is a great idea to rent one to help alleviate all the stress walking around the parks cause!

    2. yes. i am in fairly ok shape for my age but walking all over their parks in not my usual thing and my body can't enjoy it by the afternoon on the first day, let alone the others days to go back on. the scooters are always the way we do it now and it so WORTH the money!

  9. I'm glad you had such a great time and got in so many activities. I do remember when my oldest were 3 and 6 we went and they weren't doing so good after about 3-4 days either. We haven't gone with Autumn yet and I'm not in a rush. Eventually we'll get there again.

That's so sweet that you met Adalia Rose! I've only seen her on tv, but to see her in person would be an amazing moment for sure.

So much but not enough time I'm sure :) I LOVE that you got to meet so many of the different characters (Lucille Ball is my fav...hehe). What great family memories you have for a life time :) I will take your advice if we ever go and schedule some down time....so we can avoid meltdowns hehe. I bet it happens ALL the time at Disney though ;) So glad you guys had so much fun!!
