Sun, Sand & Mudslides

Hurray! The weather finally warmed up enough for our first beach trip this summer. It's been really chilly here this summer, which is very odd. We actually pulled out jackets last week. That's unheard of around here in July! Saturday was warm and sunny, so we packed up our gear, grabbed some friends, and headed to Warren Dunes.

Some of you may remember me talking about taking a trip there last year. My best friend has never been to that beach, so we thought it would be a fun experience for her and her girls.

We did a little bury the kids in the sand...

Took some water selfies...

Rolled down the sand dunes...

But the best part was mud hunting.

The girls wasted no time digging into the natural clay mud and smearing it all over their bodies. Us big girls got in on the action too...

But... this year we went a little further than we did last year and stumbled upon a mudslide! How fun is this!?!?

A very fun day at the beach. Yay for sun, sand & mudslides!

How often do you go to the beach in the summer?

    1. My case was all wet so that pic of me and Jenn didn't turn out so well with the fogginess, but I love it anyway. It's not often I get to see her, so I don't have many photos of us together. That makes this one that much more special to me :)

    2. Oh, there was some wrestling going on in that mud. Put 6 girls together and there's bound to be a little mud slinging going on at some point :)

  7. That looks like such a blast!!! Living in Nebraska - we don't have any beaches. We have sand dunes way out West. That's hours away from here.

We were lucky to hit some sand dunes in Colorado. Mica and Travis love them! I think they are so pretty to. They are my climbers though.

You all look like you had a blast. I love your photos!

    1. Climbing those dunes is so tiring, but the views are usually so worth it! And running back down is always a blast!

  10. We are hours and hours from any beaches, so we rarely go. We're all more pool people than beach people anyway, though. I asked Elliott if he wanted to go to the beach while we were in Florida, and told him it would take most of a day because it would be about an hour and a half to two hours away. He looked at me like I was crazy and asked if our hotel's pool was going to be broken. Haha.

  15. I'm laughing because I know my oldest son and my daughter would do it. I'm thinking my second oldest would do it (and I'm talking about the mudslide). My youngest is such a dirt avoider though, I don't know if he'd do it, lolol I'm laughing thinking of his face if he was there. :)

This looks like such a fun day, that's a great way to break your bestie in to the beach!
