Theresa's Mixed Nuts: April Fools' Cake

April Fools' Cake

We don't normally play jokes on each other on April 1st, but this year Allison was just itching to pull a prank on her dad and sister. She was hoping to spike all their food with hot sauce, but that sounded a wee bit too mean. So, we compromised and made them a special cake.

April Fools Joke

Which happened to be a sponge (new, of course) covered in homemade frosting.

April Fools Joke

"This must be Angel Food Cake!" my husband said when he tried cutting his fork through it. I'm pretty sure he caught on almost immediately that it wasn't a real cake.

The teen though scooped off and ate several forkfuls of icing before she hit the sponge layer, her face twisting up in a look of pure disgust, then the plate went flying across the table. Joke well played Allison!

Did you play any pranks for April Fools Day, or did you happen to get pranked yourself?

  4. Hahahahaha - that is a good one! The only thing I did was put an elastic around the sprayer in the sink. I ended up getting myself, though, so it totally backfired.

    1. try it and see for yourself, Sir Randy Mandy, Sir :P But you first need to scrub the sink with it and advisably a bathroom floor and frost it with icing only after that :P

  10. That was a good one!!

A lady in our area got arrested for her April Fools prank. She texted her daughter saying she heard gunfire at work. When the mom didn't answer the daughter's call, the daughter called 911.......the police weren't joking when they arrested her.

I may have to try yours!

  11. That is too funny! I managed to get through the day with no pranks being played on me. I never play any because I'm just too afraid of the revenge, hahah.

  14. Cute trick to play. I would have been sadly disappointed if I wasn't getting any cake. No April Fools here!

  16. The first time I saw this done was in college. This girl in a neighboring apartment was ticked that a guy was a jerk on a date. So she pretended to give him a cake and it was a giant sponge that was green (9x13) and she frosted it with chocolate frosting. He was such a jerk, he ate the frosting off of the sponge. ewh~ lol

  17. A calorie free (except the frosting) sponge cake! Love it. This one's so good I may need to steal it next April 1.

    Be well, Theresa.

  25. Haha! This actually occurred at my school as a prank for the administration. I think it's a wonderful joke that almost anyone can fall for. :) There's nothing wrong with a bit of traditional April Fool's.
