I saw this post on Facebook the other day and couldn't help but nod my head in agreement:
Jason loves the green tea, but for me it's the Irish butter and goat cheese that gets me in the mood for a Costco run. I bought a 4 ounce goat cheese at our regular grocers not too long ago for almost $6, so those two packs that have a total of 20 ounces for $8 at Costco is a steal! I go through a lot of goat cheese on a weekly basis, using it on our sandwiches, bagels, and salad, but I never thought to use it in a dessert until I happened upon this Roasted Pears with Goat Cheese recipe over at Golden Blossom Honey.
The days went from scorching to quickly turning into needing a cardigan when I leave the house. Autumn is definitely in the air and if you're looking for a simple but sophisticated dessert option, you're in the right place. These pears are my new go-to for fall dessert. They are so easy to make, but could fit right onto the menu of any upscale restaurant. The creaminess of the goat cheese blends exceptionally well with the pears, I am a little salty that I didn't discover this pairing sooner! I know we're a few months off from the holidays, but we do pear dishes a lot around Christmas here, and sometimes even for Thanksgiving. If you're an early planner or want to earmark a dessert to come back to for the holidays, trust me on this one. It's going to be a holiday favorite in no time, I'm sure!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
2 Bosc pears, ripe but still firm; halved lengthwise and cored
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
4 slices from a log of goat cheese
4 tablespoons RAW GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
freshly ground black pepper

Do you eat pears more in the autumn or winter?
They look amazing, a really great and inspiring recipe :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Poland!
I love pears :D
ReplyDeleteMe too! They are a perfect fall fruit!
DeletePears are so underrated. They're so delicious and they do make for a splendid dessert. We have a Costco going up nearby so soon I'll get to have that discount on goat cheese too. LOL I hear they also have perfume (woot!). :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exciting when you get a Costco? I haven't checked out their perfumes as we tend to just go for the food purchases, but I'll have to swing that way next time and see what they have.
DeleteAt least now you know of it so your saltiness can fade lol hmm I might consider that boring no matter the age. Maybe not 90 though. If I could waddle my butt to Costco then, that might thrill.
ReplyDeleteCostco isn't boring. Or maybe it is. I relate to 90 year olds more than those in my age group these days, so maybe I am the boring on LMAO!
DeleteSuch exquisitely gorgeous photos, marvelous setting and colour combination with pear green and that petroleum blue, a true art indeed fit for the cover of an expensive cookbook! I would not put anything that came from a goat into my mouth LOOOL but I do adore the pears, even in fragrances and cosmetics. I've seen pear body wash somewhere, but opted to buy apple handwash instead as it was double the cheaper and these days I am forced to save every penny I can.
ReplyDeleteI like pear scented things too. Not as much as you do, but it's one of the scents that are at the top of my list. I tend to go for apple or coffee scents most these days. Something about fall gets me in the mood for those most. I found 2 of the 3 body washes you were wanting. I am going to head to Walmart this week or next to hunt for the third.
DeleteWhile I don't like goat cheese, I do like pears.
ReplyDeleteI don't think many people I know like goat cheese, so I suppose it's an acquired taste.
DeleteThey are definitely the best in the fall, but I like them year round. Simon Holland is the only reason I didn’t delete my Twitter account. He’s the best!
ReplyDeleteI honestly never heard of Simon Holland until a month ago. I need to dive into his Twitter more. I've been following this Icelandic comedian on Instagram lately. He's got some really bad dad jokes but he tells them hilariously.
DeleteRicas peras, gracias por la receta. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIf there's anything more elegant than baked pairs, it's Making them with goat cheese.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Goat cheese just classes it up!
