Hjalparfoss Double Waterfall

On my quest to find cool waterfalls, Iceland didn't disappoint. I read that there was going to be a double waterfall on our path and for sure wasn't missing the opportunity to see it!

The pair of waterfalls conjoin into a plunge pool that's surrounded by basalt rock formations. While it's a really neat set of falls, honestly, there's not much else to see surrounding the area, so we didn't spend more than 20 minutes on this stop. I suppose that was a good thing though because by the time we made it here, the wind and rain had started picking up a tad...

Y'all, that's not dandruff in my hair, but the rain was starting to turn to sleet and snow. In July. Yes, I wanted to cry because I am a hot weather girl.

Thankfully, this was one of our last stops of the day because at this point we were exhausted from cramming everything in to one full day and our clothes were soaked though. I was actually relieved there wasn't much of anything to see surrounding Hjalparfoss because I just wanted to crawl back into the heated car and pray my clothes would dry out before hitting up the airport. Shout out to my hubby though who endured little sleep to make this road trip a success for us girls ♥

  1. I've never seen a double water fall, but that's so cool. Too funny about the snow in July. I'd be a little disappointed with that too, but it didn't seem to effect your exploring. :)

  3. Nope, never seen any kind of waterfall, sadly. These do look gorgeous, seems Iceland is the land of waterfalls. Rain destroyed my green umbrella last week, just broke it into two and it flew away down the street. Had to buy a new one yesterday in case there is rain again, but we are actually expecting a hot heat wave right now. Not happy at all.

    1. Yikes on the umbrella. I'd be pissed watching it fly off down the road.
Boo to the heat wave. We're having one here right now, and it's even too hot for me. I turned down a beach day because I just couldn't take being out in the sun all day.

  4. I guess Niagara Falls because there are three different names to the falls? That is a gorgeous place, but I'm with you on wanting summer weather in July!

    1. Niagra is gorgeous, isn't it? I love how they light it up at night.

  5. Amazingly beautiful display of double waterfalls and the flow of the water is seen falling together.
Your vacation trip is full of impressions.

In the district where my city lives there are a pair of twin waterfalls but the flow of falling water does not blend. The name is 'Grenjengan Kembar'.
I have been there but I canceled because of the difficulty of the field of travel.

    1. That's too bad that the trek to the falls there was difficult and you had to cancel. I am sure your waterfalls are just as beautiful in their own right!

    1. I know. Snow in July is about as depressing as it can get!

  8. Nooo... I don't think I've ever seen a double. Stunning! Hey, I thought of you though. A week ago I was watching a photographer on YouTube and he went to the black beach? Black sand? I forget the real name. But I thought of you and your family.

    1. How lovely you thought of us with the black sand beach. There's a black pebble beach in California that's a real pain to walk on. I much prefer black sand beaches over black pebble ones!

  9. So beautiful, Theresa! I didn't get to see this when we were in Iceland, and it is spectacular!
