To my U.S. friends, happy 3 day weekend! Today's post is going to be short and sweet. I've been under the weather this week, but I'd be remiss if I didn't bring you your weekly Golden Blossom Honey recipe today. Many of us will be gathering with family and friends at some point this weekend for one last back yard cookout before the weather takes a chilly turn, so I thought it would be a great idea to let you all know about this Cherry Cobbler recipe that's sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Cherry Cobbler

Don't worry about having to pit a bunch of cherries. For this recipe, you're more than welcome to use a bag of frozen cherries. I've said it before and I'll say it again, any recipe that has awesome little shortcuts like that and tastes delicious always gets my seal of approval.

Ingredients
Filling;
4 cups frozen pitted cherries (about 24 ounces)
1/3 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Topping:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
2/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk (to make sour milk add 2/3 tablespoon apple cider vinegar to 2/3 cup milk, let sit 3 minutes)

  1. Does look super nom, I'd eat anything with cherries!
Dahlink, you need to hire a nanny for da kids and dedicate yourself to your health! I must talk to Jason and tell him that he needs to take care of you!

    1. Jason did play nanny and housekeeper on Friday, even letting me sleep all day before waking me up and dragging me to the doctor in the afternoon. I am on steroids now for the inflammation, so I'm doing a little better now, thankfully! Not great, but not confined to the bed, so that's a plus.

    2. You really need to put yourself on the first place, I'm not liking what I'm hearing about your health lately! I will have to come over there, kidnap you and bring you here for a month of spa treatments in one of our health and wellness centres up in the mountains :)

  2. This looks absolutely delicious!!! I second your love for cooking short cuts. I've never actually had a cobbler, but now I'm going to have to try this. Have you ever tried frozen mango? Tastes delicious less the headache of cutting a mango only to get two or three solid bites of the fruit.

    1. I hate cutting mango but love the flavor. I will definitely take up your suggestion on buying the frozen bits. I mostly use it in my morning smoothies (so good with orange juice!) so the frozen will just add more texture :)

  3. Travis has a studio visit today. Since his studio is in our house, it was a lot of cleaning last night.

Travis and Isaak are going to a Husker game this weekend.

Travis' birthday is today, so we're going out for dinner.

We're having August/September birthdays at our house this Monday. I'm making fajitas. I was thinking of something everyone can have. I can even make vegetarian kind, for my sister. Then she said she doesn't like fajitas. She's so picky. I never know what to make for her.

    This Cherry Cobbler looks fantastic!
