Bakerly Offers Happiness In Every Bite

Disclosure- I received the mentioned product courtesy of the sponsor for the purpose of this review. All opinions are genuine, based on my experience with the product, and have not been influenced by promotional items.

I usually hit up two stores each week to fill my grocery needs. I'll hit up a mass merchandiser chain to grab a few select groceries, paper products, and any household items that we may need that week. Then, I like to head over to Fresh Thyme to stock up on their natural and organic goods and produce to finish off my shopping list. One thing that I love about shopping there is I always stumble across new finds which quickly become household favorites. A few months back I was browsing through the baked goods and found a little section of Bakerly breads and crêpes.

Bakerly

I kind of just glanced over the bread because Jason usually only eats whole wheat bread, but I did scoop up a package of the crêpes for the family to try later that day. There were several flavors to choose from, like strawberry, chocolate, and caramel, and I decided that we'd probably all like the caramel best so that's what got put in my basket.

Bakerly Crepes

These crêpes are made with an authentic French recipe. They are light and chewy and filled with gooey caramel and crunchy round cereal bits. They definitely offer happiness in every bite.

Bakerly Crepes

Needless to say, it was love at first bite for the entire family. We have since started buying the other flavors and think they are all equally delicious. You can eat them straight out of the package, but we like to pop them into the microwave for a few seconds to get the filling warm and gooey. It gives it a little extra boost of indulgence that way.

Bakerly did send me an assortment of their products to try recently, and I was excited to see that they included a loaf of their sliced brioche bread and a package of their brioche rolls since I still haven't tried them.

Bakerly Brioche Rolls

Bakerly Brioche Rolls

Like all of Bakerly's products, the rolls are made with an authentic French recipe. They are light and fluffy and yummy. I used them for dinner one night, filling them with cheese and sautéed veggies, and Mr. "I only eat wheat bread" gobbled them up without any complaints. If that isn't a winner, I don't know what is.

I've been using the brioche bread for lunch quite frequently lately.

Bakerly Brioche Bread

My favorite way to eat it is toasted on the griddle, then filled with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Mmmm. So good!

Yield: Serves 1

Caramelized Onion, Mushroom & Swiss Melt

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 Slices Bakerly Brioche Bread
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 8 ounces sliced bella mushrooms
  • 1 slice Swiss Cheese
  • oil for sautéing

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Peel and slice onion into thick strips.
  2. Over medium heat, heat oil of your choosing (I use coconut oil). Place sliced onions in pan and cook, stirring frequently for 20-30 minutes, until onions turn golden brown and get a caramel like coating. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Add about a tablespoon more oil to pan used for onions. Once heated, add sliced mushrooms and sautée over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Layer onions and mushrooms over a slice of bread. Add the cheese and top with the second slice of bread. You can either toast the bread in a clean pan over medium heat or place in a 350 degree oven until bread is toasty and cheese is melted.
  5. Serve Immediately

What I love most about Bakerly is that their bread and snack items are line with my goal to eat as healthy as possible. Their products do not contain preservatives, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors and they are GMO-free. So, not only can I snack a little healthier, I can feel good serving these products to my family too.

  1. OMG I want those with shrooms and onions!
As I told you we have bakeries in each street (I have three around my house) so we eat fresh bread, rolls, pretzels and stuff. We call crepes pancakes here. I usually buy rye bread in my bakery two times a week, and some white bread rolls for the weekend, I think you would really lurv our pastries here.

The novel I'm currently translating is set in Tennessee and they constantly mention Trader Joe's :) and Wallmart.

    1. I'd be so fat if we had pastries around every corner. Though, I'd be fat and happy ;)

We don't have a Trader Joes here. I think those are just southern and west coast stores. We do have Aldi, which I believe is the brother store to Trader Joes though. I believe there are Aldi's in Europe, no?

  2. Sure a win without all the added crap that so many big market stores have in the products. Bread and I parted ways long ago though, the mushrooms I'll eat though.

  26. Oh man those look good - I just went on a 12 week biggest loser type thing, so I'm trying to stay away from anything remotely resembling crepes - or caramel - or anything gooey and yummy. I have until December 22nd to be good (and Thanksgiving of course) so they will be on my try list after that. :)

    1. Girl, make sure you avoid this place tomorrow then. I've got a praline pie going up lol. Did you start back to your Zumba classes?

  27. I don't have a class, but I did start back on my DVDs - my goal is to do that 3 times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes, and then do core exercises the other 2 days. So far I've been on track all week except for Tuesday - I had a stomach bug and ended up staying home from work. Girl - I can't avoid your blog - it's too much fun to visit, even if you do have yummy, tempting treats all the time. :) And OMG - praline pie sounds totally aaaahmaaazing! Every time I go downtown, which really isn't all that often, I always have to stop and get some fresh praline samples just out of the oven...they are SOOOOOOO good!!

  29. I needed Brioche once for a recipe and I looked all over our whole entire city, including at the bakers. Nothing. Now I see it everywhere (we moved), lol. Isn't that the way? The Bakerly items look good. So does that mushroom, Swiss, caramelized onion sammy. :)
