I like big cups and I cannot lie... Every time I pass a coffee/tea/cocoa mug stand, I always have to stop and browse the selection. I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect mug for my hot beverage fix, and what it all boils down to is the handle. If I can't fit all four fingers into the loop with my thumb snugly wrapped around the rounded cup, it doesn't matter how cute it is, back on the shelf it goes. I do like to start or end my day with a hot cup of tea, but in the fall I branch out to hot cocoa and cider as well. Now, I have only one mug in my collection that fits my picky mug criteria, but I save that for tea. I've been on the hunt for the perfect cocoa and cider mug lately, and while I haven't found one that I absolutely love just yet, I did experiment with a few apple cider recipes recently and did find the most perfect one in this Hot Mulled Apple Cider recipe from Golden Blossom Honey.

This beverage is everything I love about fall all wrapped into one delicious drink. The color, the warm autumn flavors of apples and cinnamon combined, and how amazing it makes your house smell while it simmers on the stove. Mmmm!  Who doesn't love the taste of fall? Now, I just need a mug to go with the recipe, but for now, it does look stinkin' cute in these handled mason jar mugs, right?

Ingredients
4 cups apple cider
3 Tablespoons GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  1. We don't have cider here, and I've never fully understood what it is? Apple juice or apple brandy? Or apple beer?
Those handled mason jar mugs are adorbs, love how square they are! Utter delight!

    1. Dezzy, it's apple juice that hasn't been pasteurized. It's a lot less sweet than normal apple juice, offering a more earthy tone. That's why it's a great fall beverage since you can add fall spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to give it a nice, warm flavor.

    2. I've noticed that we have Somersby cider with different aromas in our shops but it has 4% of alcohol in it

    3. Jason would probably like that much better than this. He gets so excited when the fall beers hit the shelves.

  2. Had it once in my life I think, meh, went back to plain apple juice, thought it tasted funny. Not sure what the difference was though, had a weird after taste.

    1. I think cider is one of those things that you either love or hate. I have one daughter that sucks it down and the other wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Jason isn't a fan either, but I love it.

  12. That cider does sound so good! Good luck on your mug hunt! I like to have a 15 oz. mug, and it seems most places have the 11 or great big ones. 15 oz. is just right for me!
