Balancing Mommyhood is Hard, Especially if Sick just got real.™ #SickJustGotReal #AMomCanDream

“The video and gift card have been provided by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. All thoughts and reviews are my own.”

Being a mom is one of life's greatest joys, but boy, it sure can be a balancing act! Trying to manage daily duties on top of school events, sports practice, homework help, and everything in-between is a daily challenge, but it's a challenge I gladly accept. Yet, there are times when life gets so hectic, I do fantasize about what I would do with a little "me-time", especially when life throws a little sickness my way.

Moms know how a little illness can really throw a wrench into the daily mix. The pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare understands how moms might feel when their child is under the weather. As part of their Sick just got real.™ campaign, they have put together a little video to let moms know they are not alone.

The video really resonated with me because I've been in that mom's shoes many times over the years. I definitely had a few moments where I dreamed of stealing a few minutes to myself, but as a stay-at-home mom, "me time" was never in the cards when the kids got sick. It was a full-time job, and some days I had my fair share of feeling frazzled! There was a time when Mariah was a baby and had colic. She cried for 3 weeks straight. I did a lot of crying back then, too. Or the time one of the girls got diarrhea at school and I had to bring in a change of clothes and help get her cleaned up the best I could in the school bathroom before bringing her home. Those were definitely not some fun times! My kids aren't fully grown just yet, and I am pretty sure there will be a few more illnesses I'll have to trudge through before all is said and done.

Life throws a lot of curve balls at us, so it's always good to be prepared for those Sick just got real.™ moments. Head over to the Sick just got real.™ website for sick hacks to help make life a little easier when illness hits your household. Also, read stories from other moms on how they deal when they are faced with caring for a sick child. It's comforting to know that you aren't alone when Sick just got real.™

    1. Awe, poor baby Dezzy! Mariah was allergic to the milk we had her on also. Took a few projectile vomiting episodes and emergency room visits to figure it out. I'm glad she didn't have to have surgery! That must have been awful!

  34. Whatever strain of flu is currently going around is super hard to get rid of and to make matters worse, my husband and I were sick at the same time! I saw my PCP and he was just getting over his flu and prescribed the same thing to me that he took! We had all types of meds, teas, honey and herbs. The only well "person" in the house was our cat, Husani.

Now whenever someone is sick I make sure to go around with cleaning stuff and wipe everything down to reduce the chance of spreading any bugs around.

  51. Sick was real in my house a few weeks ago! My daughter came running into my room waking me up that she didn't feel good and she was going to throw up...I shot right up and started to get her down to the bathroom (which of course we didn't make it to...) Settled onto the couch as I cleaned everything up with some water and a trash can closer to her. Was a 24 stomach bug for her and 2 days later I had it with a flu bug of 101 temps!
