Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shake

Looking for a sweet treat that you don't have to bake for your Valentine? Why not try this Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shake? I found this recipe in Taste of Home. The recipe was inspired by Steak & Shakes version and tastes almost as good!

malt, steak and shake, valentine's day, recipe

Ingredients:

2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup strawberry ice cream
2/3 cup fresh strawberries, stems removed and hulled (you can also use frozen strawberries, but the fresh strawberries make it taste much better in my opinion)
2 tbsp hot fudge ice cream topping, warmed
whip cream and cherry for garnish

Directions:

In a blender, blend milk, ice cream and strawberries until smooth.
Pour the hot fudge topping into the bottom of a glass.
Fill glass with shake mixture.
Top with whipped cream and a cherry.
Immediately serve.

*For a healthier version, substitute with skim milk, reduced fat ice cream, and low fat hot fudge topping*

  1. I'm hopping in my car RIGHT NOW to get the stuff to make this. Holy crap does it sound good. And it's totally a zero calorie shake, right?

  5. It looks good!

I've actually whipped up soft tofu and put it in with the ice cream. The kids never know the difference. Then I don't hear, "I'm hungry!" two minutes later. They are always hungry.

  16. Can you use the shell syrup instead of the fudge?

    1. Are you talking about the stuff that gets hard when you put in on ice cream? If so, I think that would be fine to use as long as you plan on eating the shake with a spoon and not a straw. Otherwise, those chunks will get stuck in the straw and you won't be able to drink it very well.
