I remember way back in the day when I received my first gaming console. My sister and I would take turns playing games with crummy sounds and graphics, using controllers that were twitchy at best, leaving us screaming "this game cheats!" many times, and let's not forget the pure agony of waiting for player 1 to die so you could finally have a crack at saving the helpless princess.

When I compare gaming of the past to gaming of today, my mind is just blown how with how far technology has come over the last few decades. Nowadays, you don't need controllers to play, the sounds and graphics are so lifelike, and you even have the option of playing with your friends, instead of secretly hoping they'd hurry up and die so you have a chance to play too.

Now, Samsung has taken it even a step further, allowing you to immerse yourself into the game virtual reality style with the new Samsung Gear VR!

Samsung Gear VR

Mobile virtual reality has finally arrived, giving you an extraordinary experience by dropping you into the center of exciting games, letting you have your own personal cinema, socialize with friends, and so much more! How cool would it be to be able to walk with dinosaurs, rocket through space, or just kick back on the sofa and enjoy a theater-like experience anytime you please?

All this fun comes straight to you only from Samsung and Oculus. Simply snap your Galaxy smartphone into your Samsung VR Gear and escape into your own private world of virtual reality. Gear VR is completely portable, comfortable to wear, and easy to set up.

Samsung Gear VR is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+.

We are in gift giving season, and with Father's Day right around the corner, I can't think of a more exciting gift than giving dad the opportunity to experience exotic destinations, hang with celebrities, or surround himself in the action of some of the world's fastest cars. He can do all of that, and more, with the Samsung Gear VR.

Even better, you can get a free Samsung Gear VR, plus $50 worth of Virtual Reality content with the purchase or lease and activation of select Samsung smartphones. This offer is good 6/5 - 6/18 online or in Best Buy stores. Perfect timing for the perfect gift!

What excites you most about virtual reality and the Samsung Gear VR? Would you use it mostly for gaming, movie watching, or to socialize with your friends?

    1. Hahaha! That's hilarious! Though, didn't someone make one that actually works? Back to the Future is looking like more of a reality, isn't it?

    2. I wouldn't even know how to operate it, since you have to download everything like for the computer, right? The reason why I don't have a tablet either, although it could serve me well... I wish I had some tech wizard around me

    3. Dahink, if a 2 year old can operate one, you can too. Though, I do think a tablet would really serve you well, especially for your books. Jason bought me an iPad a few years back. I didn't really want it at the time, but I was hooked after a few days. I don't even use it for work, I just like to watch shows on it, read library books, and play a game every now and again.
