Check Out World Vision 2015 Gift Catalog! It's Where Fashion Meets Philanthropy #GiftCatalog

I am happy to partner with World Vision for the third year in a row. Each year my family does its best to give back during the holidays, and I always enjoy flipping through the World Vision Gift Catalog for inspiration. For those of you that are unfamiliar with World Vision's Gift Catalog, it's a wonderful resource for those who want to be socially responsible in gift giving.

Since 1996, through the charitable purchases from the Catalog, World Vision has helped millions of people in U.S. and around the world in poverty-stricken areas. Last year alone, more than 822,000 people were helped through funds generated by the Catalog. Each purchase improves the quality of life for struggling children and families around the world. How does it work? Simply donate towards much needed supplies for the underprivileged

$50 will go towards the share of a cow, which will provide a family with 5,000 gallons of milk over the lifetime of the cow. $25 can go towards a sewing machine, lifting a woman out of poverty by using her skills as a seamstress. $100 can purchase a bicycle for a girl to help keep her safe from being assaulted or kidnapped on her way to school.

There are more than 250 poverty-fighting gifts, ranging in price from $16 to $39,000 in the World Vision Gift Catalog. If you prefer a tangible item in return for your donation, the Catalog has many beautiful, handcrafted items that will also benefit those in need.

A Balinese Multi-Strand Necklace is handmade by Balinese artisans in a project that helps children in Bali receive an education.

An African Soapstone Box is hand-carved, and is perfect for storing jewelry and other trinkets. The artisans in Kenya use this sustainable resource to lift themselves out of poverty.

This gorgeous Royal Silk Scarf adds color to any wardrobe and supports the needs of children and families worldwide. Its luxurious silk is woven by Vietnam's Ma Chau villagers, who receive sustainable income through their craft.

This holiday, consider purchasing from the World Vision 2015 Gift Catalog, where your purchases of hand-crafted gifts will go towards the Where Most Needed Fund, which supports a variety of World Vision's programs around the world.

  3. such a lovely cause! And you picked lovely gifts too! Isn't it disturbing when you think how even the smallest, the most insignificant amount of money for you can change the life on some other person in other parts of the world? I always remember that photo of a tourist somewhere in Africa or Asia who gives his utterly cheap flipflops to some poor kid because the kid doesn't even have that.
And recently Blue and I talked about earnings and we realized that I get the same amount of money for a month translation a whole book that he gets for translating like five pages of something for one afternoon. Differences in the value of money are so huge around the world....

    1. I always think of that photo too. It's so heartbreaking! Makes me feel even more blessed to know how very fortunate we are, and that's why I am always trying to teach my girls to give back all year long, monetarily and with their time. But, I make sure they educate themselves first before making any kind of donation. It's easy to get swindled this day in age, and that's why I love reputable companies like World Vision where I know they are making a positive impact on lives through our donations.
