I hate to bring this up, especially since we haven't had Halloween yet, but Christmas is right around the corner! Now that my girls are getting older, they are getting a little harder to shop for. Toy aisle items are out and clothes are just boring to gift. I like to give my girls a few books each year because I think you can never have too many books, and while I don't normally review books here, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to share these super fun and cute books that I will be gifting the girls this year. If you have tweens and teens that are hard to buy for, listen up, because I am sure they are going to love these titles as much as mine will!

If those covers weren't enough to draw you in, let me tell you a little more about each title. Don't Quit Your Day Dream: 20 Hand-drawn Cards to Tear, Color and Share is a beautifully illustrated book by Bethany Robertson. It has 20 thick, card stock printed photos that you color yourself, then share (or keep for yourself). It's a lot like those adult coloring books that are so popular recently. Gift this with some vibrant gel pens and they'll spend hours making masterpieces!

Don't Quit Your Daydream Book

For the book/art nerd set, like my oldest,
Cover Art: 20 Hangable Prints for Book Nerds by Liz Emirzian is a perfect gift! Have you ever fallen in love with a cover or artwork inside of the book and wanted to hang it, but didn't want to ruin the book? That's exactly what this book was made for! You get 20 amazing book covers, printed on thick card stock pages, that you can easily remove from the book and frame. Each page is sized to fit an 8x10 frame or matted 5x7 openings. Leaves of Grass, The Secret Garden and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are just a few of the classic selections you receive in this book

Emoticat Stickers: 200 Ways to Say it with Kitties is a book my tween is going to flip for! I mean, cats and stickers. What's better than that?! This book has 20 pages of cat stickers that are super adorable. The kitty faces show a range of emotions from happy or sad, and confused or bored. You do get 200 stickers in this book, but only 50 of them are original. The rest of the sheets (after the first 5) are repetitive so you can tear a page out and share with friends. Or, have duplicates of your favorites. Whichever you prefer.

Then we have my favorite of the bunch. Apuglogies: Saying Sorry with Adorable Pugs makes a perfect stocking stuffer. Filled with 20 tear out cards, each page features an adorable pug captioned with a funny saying. Say "I'm Sorry I Got Us Lost" or "I'm Sorry I Ate All Your ___" (fill in the blank) with these cards and you won't be in the doghouse for too long!

Each of these Ulysses Press titles are all under $15 each, and can be purchased at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or most major bookstores nationwide.

What's your favorite book to give or receive for the holidays?

Colouring books for adults are becoming such a huge hit! One of our publishers has released two huge ones this summer and I expect that everyone at our BookFair next week will be buying them!
Meanwhile, I'm thinking what to wear at the BookFair :)

  4. Very cute ideas - my kids are both at a very difficult age to buy for. My daughter, especially! She has decided, in the past few months (out of the blue) that she hates pink and anything remotely girly. What?? So - her room is pink, as is her bedspread and most of the items in there...her birthday is just before Christmas, so this year for her birthday (and some Christmas) we are redecorating her room. So many options!!!

    1. Of course repainting the room - as she says, the pink has to go!

    2. OMG, are we raising the same daughter?! Mine just told me that she is over all the pink in her room too. She wants purple now. And her birthday is 12/19! We are redecorating the room for her birthday and holiday too! Glad to know I'm not alone in the added pressure of redoing the room during the holidays lol.
