Zip Lining Across the River!

How was everyone's weekend? Memorial Day was a bit gloomy and rained off and on all day, but the rest of the weekend we had fantastic weather! Our city just turned 150, so some of the downtown roads were closed off for celebrations, food and fun. Mariah and Allison caught wind that they would be offering zip lining across the river as one of the activities, and made it pretty clear that it was not an activity to be missed. $5 a ride seemed pretty reasonable, so we pre-ordered our tickets, then made sure to get there ahead of time. It's a good thing we did, because they oversold on the tickets and we were 4 people ahead of the line cutoff before they started issuing refunds. I hadn't planned on zip lining, but the girl behind me had an extra ticket, so I figured, why not?

Jason got there just in time to video the girls coming across the river.

All in all, the ride lasted 15 seconds, but it was still quite a blast! I would love to try zip lining on a larger scale some day.

Have you ever tried zip lining? If not, is it something you could see yourself doing some day?

  1. I'm so glad you made the cut. It looks thrilling. I'm such a wimp. I declined, when I had the opportunity.

    1. Really!? You are so adventurous though. I figured anyone who would eat chocolate bugs would have no problem doing a little zip lining ;)

  2. Such fun, such fun! I'd probably poop my shorts and wouldn't have the guts to do it :)

    1. Actually, the ride was so smooth, it kind of felt like sitting on a bicycle. If you can ride a bike without pooping your shorts, I think you'd be just fine on the zip line :)

    2. OMG bikes scare the hell out of me :) I was made with zero balance in my body.....

    3. So, I guess rollerskating is not an option for you either? I think it's best for you to keep your feet in your shoes, planted firmly to the ground :)

    4. well have you ever seen a walrus rollerskating? If that happens the first circus will abduct me!

    5. Are you talking about being a walrus again?

    6. He is! I don't know why he does that. He certainly is no where near looking like a walrus!

    7. Maybe that's because he's always wearing skinny jeans, Theresa. It makes him look so.... skinny.

  3. I bet it was fun for them. I hate rides, so I'd be the chicken hiding, and feeling guilty that I wasn't giving it a go.

    1. I am not a fan of rides either, which is why I didn't buy myself a ticket originally. We'll be going back to Cedar Point next week and I know my family is going to drag me on every ride they have. Sometimes it sucks having such daredevil family members when I am the only wuss lol.

  4. How fun! I almost did it last summer, but I only had flip flops and they wouldn't let me go without sneakers.

    1. Yeah, they were pretty strict about no sandals or flip flops, or they at least had to have a strap on the back.
