My dad was really tall and really thin. I remember he would make a shake every morning and dump some powder mix into it. He always said it was to help him build up his muscles. One day I decided to try some for myself, and blech! It was the grossest thing I had ever tasted! From that day forward, I didn’t have a good impression of powdered mixes and said I would never try one again. Fast forward 20 some odd years and I started a little ole blog. One of the companies that I was introduced to through blogging was NeoCell, which has been a tried and true favorite of mine for the past 3 years. Their skin care line, Beauty Bursts, and more recently, Keratin Hair Volumizer Supplements have been a part of my daily routine, and I can’t imagine going another day without using any NeoCell products. So when Jean, from NeoCell, was reading through my blog and discovered I have Ulcerative Colitis, she sent me some information and suggested that I might like to try NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex since some of NeoCell’s other fans have had a lot of success at keeping their Chrone’s and Colitis symptoms at bay with daily use of the Collagen Sport. Honestly, my first thought was “Oh, No! Not a powdered mix!” But since I have had nothing but amazing results from other NeoCell products in the past, I was open to giving it a try.
My Ulcerative Colitis has been under control for several years now, but even when I take the best care of my body that I can, I do have an occasional flare. As we were preparing to leave for our Florida vacation, I started to get really nervous. Travel is one thing that can set my symptoms off, and I did not want to be sick on our trip. A week before we left, I started taking the NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex. The flavor I am trying is French Vanilla. It said to mix a scoop with water, but I wasn’t sure how that was going to taste, so I mixed it with my almond milk. While it did alter the flavor on my milk slightly, it was nowhere near the awful flavor of the powder mix I tried years ago. After using NeoCell products for the past few years, I do find there is a distinct flavor of the collagen in their products, and I could taste it in this mix, but it is not a bad taste at all! I don’t really drink my almond milk straight from a cup, but I do use it in my cereal daily. So, what I do is mix 1 scoop into 6 ounces of my almond milk, pour what I want over my cereal, then drink the rest out of the cup. That way I am getting the recommended amount without forcing myself to down a glass of milk daily.
Here is what I really like about NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex:
- It is made with Whey Protein, which is easier on the stomach than soy, rice, and plant based protein powders.
- It is the only protein on the market that does not contain gluten, added sugars, or lactose.
- It dissolves quickly.
- It is easy to digest.
- It supports bone muscle and joint health.
- It has 30g of protein per serving (I need 70g a day, so I am almost 1/2 way through getting what I need daily by using it in the morning).
-It is rich in amino acids.
My results? I felt great after using NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex. I didn’t feel sick once on our trip, nor did I feel the fatigue that I normally do after full days packed with physical activity. My husband even noticed how well I was doing too!
Another long time user of NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex, Jessica Dumanch, has created 50 delicious protein shakes using NeoCell Collagen Sport, and wrote an e-book including her tasty recipes, titled Omega Method #5 Gourmet Protein Shakes. I received a copy as well so I could try some of the shakes for myself. There were many to choose from, but the Bad Habit Smoothie has been my favorite so far:
2 tablespoons cacao powder
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
8 oz unsweetened Coconut Milk
2 tablespoons coconut cream
a handful of silvered almonds
1 scoop NeoCell Collagen Sport Whey Protein Powder
1 stevia packet
Place all ingredients in a blender and serve cold.
*Since I am more of an almond milk fan, I used that instead of coconut milk and it still tasted amazing!
Not only does the e-book contain great recipes, I found a lot of useful information on protein, amino acids, collagen and exercise, and she included extra links for even more information (like where to find your daily recommended protein intake. This is how I found that I need 70g daily.) Jessica’s e-book even made a feature on Huffington Post! I am very impressed with NeoCell Collagen Sport Ultimate Recovery Complex, and will continue to use it daily. You can purchase it in French Vanilla or Belgian Chocolate flavors. 15 servings is $29.95 and 50 servings is $49.95. You can get it directly on the NeoCell website.
