Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Meeting World Guy!

Meeting World Guy!

We live in a decent sized town, so it's not unusual to see some questionable characters when out and about. Lady jogging with her pet fox makes us say, "that's weird." Guy riding his bike down the road sporting a tin foil hat, "that's weird too." Usually we just chuckle and go on our merry way. A few weeks ago I was on my way to the farmers market when I see this guy walking down the road with a HUGE ball painted like the world. "Ahahaha! Look, Jason! He's got the whole world, in his hands" I proceeded to sing to him. (Anyone remember that one from Sunday School?) So, our car convo goes something like this:

Jason- Hey! I just saw him on the news. You should stop and have your picture with him. You can put it on your blog.

Me- I don't know what that guy is about. He could be a creeper. I can't promote creepers on my blog!

Thanks to modern technology, I was able to Google the fellow pretty quick. Turns out this guy is known as The World Guy. So far, he has walked with his big globe ball, and his dog Nice, through 39 states, totaling over 6,000 miles in an effort to raise awareness for diabetes. Since diabetes runs in my husband's family, this is definitely a cause I can support! So, we stopped to say hi, get a quick picture, and give him a little money for his travels.

If you'd like, stop over and check out World Guy's blog. He's got some neat photos of his travels posted. You can find him over at www.worldguy.org.

What are some weird sites you have seen in your town lately?

  1. That's pretty wacky and fun!

We went to Walmart, which we never go to. My husband had to have this cheese they only sell their. It was crazy, there was a lady with long finger nails. So long they swirled around like snakes. I'm surprised my boys said nothing. Only at Walmart.

  2. What a great story! I just want to know how he gets around with that huge globe? Walking all those miles is an accomplishment already, add the globe and the cause for diabetes and World Guy is def. pretty cool! We don't get characters like that in my town too often. :)

  4. I'm wondering how heavy the globe is, and lol that you were singing the Sunday School song. Double LOL that your husband encouraged you to stop!! That's bloggy support. :)

I'm headed over to see The World Guy's website. :)

    1. I tried to comment over there, but it acts like it goes through and then shows up blank. I like his mention of Silver Beach, we've been there and it really is pretty.

    2. Actually, it looked super light, like a giant rubber playground ball. It didn't look hard to roll at all! I think he was on his way to Silver Beach when we found him, as he was headed north at the time. Too bad you couldn't comment. Hopefully he gets that fixed!

    1. They have skyrocketed here too, Dezzy! I usually cut them up for my water, but I've been using less because they have gotten so damn expensive!

    2. I here it's worldwide problem, and that we can expect problems with bananas too because there is some problem over in Southern America with them and also a war between the corporations who dominate the banana market..... Southern American producers have teamed up with Europeans and the American company is jealous and is starting a dirty war against them.... I will die if we stay without bananas....

    3. No! Not the bananas! We eat those every day here too. Looks like we will die together, Dez!

  13. Yes, wonderful World Guy challenge for a great cause!

  14. World Guy seems to have missed my town so far. The weirdest sites we see around here all involve farm equipment too large to fit on the roads and yet they have to drive down them anyway.
