St. Patrick's Day Parade & Greening of the Waterway!

Our town puts on a St. Patty's Day parade every year, but we have always skipped it. I thought it was going to be warm this weekend, so I decided to drag the kids out to it this year. They weren't too pleased with dear old mom when the winds kicked up and we nearly froze, especially since I got the time wrong and we sat in the cold for an hour before the parade actually started. But, we did have some colorful characters to watch before the parade started.

I love how people got in the spirit, coming out wearing their St. Pat's gear.

The parade finally kicked off. The cold didn't seem to bother these kilt wearing bagpipers.

And, what's a parade without some horses with green noses and legwarmers? Oh, and a few llamas too?

After a very long and cold hour, we took the girls to our East Race Waterway where they turned the water green!

Even through the complaining, I think it was a great way to kick of the holiday!

I hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

  8. How fun! I love the animals. I hope your girls ended up liking it after all. We haven't been to a St. Patty's parade here. I should go sometime.

I've been sick since Thursday, so I won't be celebrating much. I just wore green, but later I'm going to the doctor.

  19. That is SO neat that your town does a St. Patty's Day parade! Our city doesn't :( My dad is in Chicago right now, and they celebrate HUGE apparently! Love the green water :) That's too bad that it wound up being so chilly...and you had the time wrong..hehe.

  20. Our town is mostly Italian, so they don't seem to do a lot for St Patricks Day. Love how they turned your water green.

  23. I understand how they feel. I complain in the cold too. I was in a St. Patty's Day parade and luckily it was reasonably warm. Looks like there was a variety of things to see in your parade.
