SunRidge Farms Organic Nuts Review

I am amazed that the end of the month is already here! February is right on our heels, and while it is a short month, it’s a month full of activities and love. Men love that Super Bowl will be here, women love Valentine’s Day, but most importantly, all of February is known as Heart Health Month, something we all should love! Taking care of our hearts should be a top priority for all Americans, because heart disease is the leading cause of death among both men and women in the U.S. As with many diseases, prevention is key! To reduce the risk of heart disease, quitting smoking, lowering cholesterol, exercising, and maintaining a healthy weight are all great ideas. But, did you know that eating nuts can be good for your heart too? They lower “bad” cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of blood clots, and improve the health of the lining in your arteries. Research shows that eating just 1 ounce of nuts a day can reduce the risk of heart disease. There are many nuts available, and it doesn’t really matter which nut you choose to consume, as they all contain heart healthy nutrients. I am a huge fan of nuts (It’s even in my blog title!) and will eat just about any of the varieties available, but I am choosy about which company I buy my nuts from. SunRidge Farms is at the top of that list!

Offering Certified Organic & All Natural nuts, dried fruits, granola, cereals, trail mix, confections, grains, and beans, SunRidge Farms provides the largest selection of bulk and packaged organic and natural foods. What I just love about the company is their commitment to provide high quality products sustainably. I am extremely impressed with their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as give back to the community. Here are just a few examples of how they are making a positive impact on the environment and community:

- The use of organic farming
- The distribution facility is powered by 2500 solar panels
- The delivery trucks are biodiesel
- The sales fleet is powered with hybrid vehicles
- They offer recycling and education classes
- They pay employees $5 a day to bike to and from work
- The support of fair trade products
- Member of the Non-GMO Project, and proud sponsor of the Non-GMO Shopping Guide
- They give substantial donations of food and funds to social and environmental causes
- Co-Founder of the Bulk is Green (BIG) council, they are educating consumers, food makers and grocers learn about the environmental and economic benefits of bulk foods.

SunRidge Farms is a company that is leading by example, and it’s one that my family proudly supports!

I was recently sent some organic SunRidge Farms nuts for review.

Because of the health benefits, I like to snack on nuts every day. I’ll toss a handful in my salad, chop some up and put it in my chicken dishes, or just eat them straight out of the bag. Being a nut lover, I can tell the difference in the quality of nuts, and SunRidge Farms is leading the pack in taste and quality! All of the nuts were generously sized, and had a nice crunch. They were flavorful, but what I really liked was that none of the nuts were oily or waxy tasting. The 6 ounce packages are the perfect size. Easy to take on the go, or just pour a few into your hand for a quick snack. The zip top keeps the nuts fresh, and the packaging is BPA free. Each of SunRidge Farms packages has product specific health claims right on the front of the packaging, so you know what health benefits of each product.

·       Organic Walnuts USDA-certified organic and a wonderful natural source of Vitamin E and essential minerals copper and manganese.
·       Organic Almonds Full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and copious amounts of Vitamin E, potassium and magnesium.
·       Pistachios A lower-calorie option among most nuts. They contain significant amounts of protein, fiber, Vitamin B6 & B1 and magnesium.
·       Tamari Roasted Almonds All natural, non-GMO almonds that are freshly roasted in-house in small batches, and then coated in mouth-watering, savory, tamari shoyu. These are a pleaser for any crowd.

We will be hosting a Super Bowl Party this Sunday, and I always like to keep a few bowls of nuts out for my guests to snack on. We will definitely have crowd pleasers like almonds and pistachios on hand for the big game!
