Homemade Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce

Did anyone grill on Memorial Day? It was cold, it was rainy, and it was miserable here this year. However, we didn't let that stop us from firing up the grill. We love ribs and used to get them from this little mom and pop setup until they went out of business a few years back. The meat was just ehhh, but their sauce was top notch, and sadly we have yet to find anyone else whose sauce compares. Since then, I have been experimenting with different homemade recipes and have found one that I think beats all others. I wouldn't dream of using any old sauce out of a bottle now. It's homemade all the way! This Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce will tickle your taste buds and will have you craving BBQ year round!

Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

3 cups ketchup
1 cup KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
2½ tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp hot sauce
3 tbsp original flavor A1 steak sauce
3 garlic cloves, minced

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes. Serve.

10 Things I Like About You

Jason and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on Sunday! So, today I am sharing 10 of my favorite things about my husband :)


Look at us 16 years ago. We were babies!

1- He pumps my gas. I HATE putting gas in my car. I think I only do it about once a year myself because I forget to remind him.

2- His Loyalty. Not just to me, but everyone in his close circle.

3- He's not afraid to call me out on my BS, but he knows when not to argue.

4- His work ethic. He started at the bottom of his company, and worked his way straight to the top in less than 10 years.

5- Where I fail in parenting, he picks up the slack. He is an awesome parenting partner!

6- He picks up the dog poop. He also gets up at 4 am to let the dogs out. (However, I should subtract a point here because I was the one who did it with our kids.)

7- He has never raised his voice to me. There have been some mighty quiet days over the years, but never one where shouting has taken place.

8- He lets me sleep in.

9- He watches stupid girly movies with me like She's All That and 10 Things I Hate About You and doesn't complain. He even sat through a few tv series like Gilmore Girls and Sex and the City.

10- His blue eyes and the fact he passed them on to my girls ♥

RAOK & Apple Pie

I decided to treat Allison to lunch at McDonald's the other day. The drive through line looked long, so we ran in to place our order. As I was staring up at the menu board the apple pies caught my eye. I haven't had one of those in years! So, on a whim, I ordered us 2. Who can really beat 2 pies for a buck?

A little old lady was standing next to the counter waiting on her order. She reached over and handed Allison a $1 bill. "I would like to buy your dessert today" she said. Awww! How nice was that? Allison waited until the lady left and asked if she could donate the dollar to the Ronald McDonald charity box that was on the counter. Double Awww! I was so happy driving home. The sweet gesture from the lady buying our dessert and Allison taking it upon herself to freely give away her dollar. Random Acts of Kindness always warm my heart!

At home we opened our bags to sort the food. And you know what? NO APPLE PIES! Thank you McDonald's for ruining a feel good moment.

I guess on the bright side, I saved a few calories :)

Jr. Bridesmaids

Last Saturday the girls got to be Jr. Bridesmaids in their cousins wedding. Allison was in heaven the whole time. From the dress, to the hair, to watching the bride, you could see her already plotting out her dream wedding. I predict a lot of expensive proms and a huge wedding bill in our future...
