Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Carnival Treats

Carnival Treats

I've expressed my distaste for the fair a few times on here before. I haven't been to one in many years, but there is one thing that I absolutely love and truly miss about going. The food! Yes, it's greasy, unhealthy, and just bad for you, but it is ever good! Cotton candy and Sno- Cones are such sugary goodness, but it's really the elephant ears that get me going.

Jason and I were driving down the road the other day when he said "Look at that! There's a new food place over there called Carnival Treats. Wanna Go?" Ummm, Hell, Yes! You don't have to ask me twice!

They had most of what the fair offers, without the headache of actually going to the fair. Score! I was expecting expensive treats, but was a bit surprised they were actually very reasonable in their pricing.

Jason and I split an elephant ear, while Allison opted for a Sno-Cone.

I guess they have been there for a few months, but it's the first I've heard of them. The manager must not know that lack of advertising will probably be their downfall, but I intend to take full advantage of them before they end up closing up shop.

What's your favorite carnival treat? Do you have one of carnival food shops where you live?

  1. Oh man, I WISH we had one of these types of shops around here. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE carnival food. Fried dough will be the death of me I swear. I do take the boys to the carnival once a year. It's all I can stand. I am with you - carnivals are the worst. They are loud, smelly and way over-priced. I only take them because it's a really small carnival in our town and we can blow through in like an hour. Otherwise we'd never go.

  3. Oh how I would love to have a food place like that near to me Theresa! I have not had a sno-cone in such a long time. It is the first time I am hearing of an elephant ear. Very interesting. It is good to be able to visit again Theresa! Have a wonderful week.

  5. Don't eat any of that. Neat idea for a store though. But yep, advertising is key.

  9. I'm surprised there aren't more places like this. They charge an arm and a leg at the carnival

  10. Well I think you just did a great bit of advertising for them with your POST! I don't like the FAIR 'ither! The atmosphere is too generic and too many shall I say; elements are questionable types? hahahahaha.

My dd's love it tho and I don't have to go now. They can take their own family's' and get sick of in their 40's, all by themselves! (snicker, snicker)

  12. I've never heard of it, but how fun! The kids would LOVE it! I have three Elephant Ear fans in the house (Kids #1, 2, & 3) and the little guy likes snocones.

I like sno cones a little bit, and I really like caramel apples but I'm scared to get them at the fair because everyone breathes on them, hahaha, silly I know, but I won't touch 'em. :)

  13. Now that's a prize!!! I'm not very fond of carnivals either. I always used to take the kids when they were small. The crowds and the noise blah....but the food, yes that greasy delicious food!!

  16. I don't think we have anything like that here, or at least if we do, we don't know about it. My husband and son would both choose to go there anytime we said anything at all about going out then. Haha.
