Back to School with Hallmark PICS 'N' PROPS

It’s that time of year again. Time to break out the paper, pencils, crayons, and glue. Time to get the kids ready for school! This summer sure did fly by, didn’t it? Just as quickly as summer has passed, so do the school years. It seems like just yesterday I was teary eyed, sending my firstborn to Kindergarten. This year I am going to be teary eyed as I send her to high school. I sit back and wonder where did the time go? Gone are the days of princess backpacks and piggy tails. We’ve swapped those for skinny jeans and lip gloss. As the years pass, one of our favorite things to do is pull out the school days books I have started for both of my girls. I save important papers, cool artwork, awards, and anything else that I think will help to stir our memories of each of their school years. Memories are like time machines, taking us back to those wonderful days we like to reflect back on. There is this quote I absolutely love- “Life is not measured by time, it’s measured by memories.” One of my ultimate goals as a parent has always been about creating memories for my children that they will cherish forever. I think I’m doing a pretty good job so far, but I am always looking for new inspiration to create new ones too. Luckily, I’ve always been able to turn to Hallmark, the leader in memory makers!

Hallmark has been a staple in my life as far back as I can remember. Their greeting cards have allowed me to express joy or sympathy when I couldn’t find the words myself. Their Keepsake Ornaments have adorned my tree every Christmas, and I have always been able to find wonderful gifts that are not only beautiful, but are sentimental, when browsing through their stores. Hallmark has been bringing people closer together and helping to preserve memories with their innovative products for generations. Now they are pleased to introduce another fabulous set of products that will help you preserve your memories for a lifetime.

How do you turn an ordinary photo session into a totally fun
and creative photo shoot?
Just add props! Our new line of Pics 'n' Props come with backdrops, thought bubbles, quirky accessories and chalkboards that can be updated with weekly, monthly or yearly milestones to hold during your photo shoots. The best part? You'll have a great time making memories as you snap pictures that tell your story in a truly unique way.

I was recently sent a My First Day of School Kit for review.

5x7 photo album
Chalkboard and chalk
Inserts for preschool through 12th grade
Journaling cards to document your child’s first day of school thoughts

While I have a school days book that we use to record various events throughout the year, this product struck me as genius! The photo props are a great way to document the growth of your child from year to year. You take one of the photo props, and it easily slips into the top slit of the frame.

When you aren’t using the photo frame as a prop, it doubles as a chalkboard. What kid doesn’t like to play school on a chalkboard? It’s a fun way to write a message to your child before they head off to school, or a great way to give a little love or encouragement to start the day off right.

After you have developed your photos, you can slip them into the photo album. Then fill out the corresponding insert with your child at the start of the year. Here you will document their school, teacher, friends, and they can record what they are most excited about for the new school year.

I really wish I would have had this kit when my girls first started school, but I figure a 4th grade start is better late than never, right?

Not only is Hallmark helping you to tell your school days story with this awesome kit, they provide several other kits that are great for creating and organizing memories. You can find kits for birthdays, babies, wedding, and one even just for fun! The kits retail between $19.95 to $29.95 each. You can find them on, or at a Hallmark store near you.

If you are looking for another way to boost your child’s enthusiasm for starting the school day off right, Hallmark also has a line of back to school greeting cards. You can find a huge selection of cards from the SO SO Happy Greetings, Kids Encouragement Greetings, and Back-to-School Greetings lines!

Sometimes I will slip a little note in my girl’s lunchboxes, but I think they would adore getting a greeting card also from time to time! The greeting cards are a fun way to let kids know you are thinking about them, even when you can’t be with them during the school day. Finding a card in their backpack, or even waking up to a card wishing them luck on their test will surely brighten their day! This card is a favorite of mine:

Hallmark is not only going to help me keep my holidays and events memorable, they are going to help me make my girl’s school days brighter and the memories shine for a lifetime!
