Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Big Storm!

Big Storm!

Some days I wonder where those weather men get their information. Last week we were under severe storm watches. Of course, it just sprinkles. Yesterday we were under severe storm watches until 7:45pm. The sun was still brightly shining at 8pm. Since it was bright and sunny, and the warning time passed, we decided to play tourist in our own town and headed over to Notre Dame to walk the campus. 2 miles from our car the sky turns black and a huge storm rolled in. Thankfully someone stopped and gave us a ride back to our car or we would have been caught in an ugly mess with no shelter! It got ugly here. REAL UGLY! Severe car accidents, trees topple over on cars as they were driving, and this tree limb went through my neighbor's roof!

I couldn't get a shot of the hole in her roof, but you can see how big that branch was that came crashing down.

Thankfully, we just got some tree debris all over our yard and the power is knocked out.

It usually takes several days for the power to come back, and we are on a time limit here at the library, so there will be no Wordless Wednesday linky this week. Hope you all have a great week, and hopefully I'll be back in full swing again in the next few days!

  1. Oh my... what a mess that storm made. We are suppose to get thunder storms today, but so far nothing happening.

Is that your patio furniture? It looks just like my Daughters.

  2. Oh no, stay safe, Theresa.

Over here (Northern Cali), we keep shifting between summer and rainy weather. But I'm not complaining. I just wish the rain would clean my car. It never seems to work that way.

    Be well and warm.

  3. Ugh! I hope you get your power back soon. It's too hot not to have AC lol. I feel terrible for your poor neighbor - what a thing to have to deal with.

  4. I am so sorry about the storm Theresa. This reminds me of our Hurricane Sandy experience last year. I am glad that you and your family are safe and hope you get back power soon. Take good care until we link up again.

  5. Oh no!

We had a really ugly storm like that yesterday. I was at work. The lights were flickering, rain and wind was mad. I guess 1/2 our city was without power. Luckily our house was fine. That's unusual because we have big trees in our neighborhood.

My thoughts are with you! That's got to stink. Of course insurance companies are going to get calls there! :(

  10. OH-NO! No for two reasons 1) You could have been damaged or hurt badly but you weren't, so that is good. and 2) You can't do WW! Dang. That would tick me off, ya know? Maybe you can catch up tomorrow?

  11. Mother nature can sure be a fickle woman indeed, and yeah weather men know nothing. Glad all is good at your hood

  12. We had to cut down all the trees near my house for doing that. Are biggest concern was this super tree that would've (if fell in the right direction) crushed the house if struck by lightning.

  16. I am glad you got through unharmed and took no major damage. I hope power comes back soon. It must really be inconvenient to be left without the electricity for days. We are all so dependent on electricity nowadays.
