Theresa's Mixed Nuts: RAOK & Apple Pie

RAOK & Apple Pie

I decided to treat Allison to lunch at McDonald's the other day. The drive through line looked long, so we ran in to place our order. As I was staring up at the menu board the apple pies caught my eye. I haven't had one of those in years! So, on a whim, I ordered us 2. Who can really beat 2 pies for a buck?

A little old lady was standing next to the counter waiting on her order. She reached over and handed Allison a $1 bill. "I would like to buy your dessert today" she said. Awww! How nice was that? Allison waited until the lady left and asked if she could donate the dollar to the Ronald McDonald charity box that was on the counter. Double Awww! I was so happy driving home. The sweet gesture from the lady buying our dessert and Allison taking it upon herself to freely give away her dollar. Random Acts of Kindness always warm my heart!

At home we opened our bags to sort the food. And you know what? NO APPLE PIES! Thank you McDonald's for ruining a feel good moment.

I guess on the bright side, I saved a few calories :)

What do you do when you are short changed at the fast food establishments?

  1. Ough! That is totally mood killer. When I am short changed at fast food establishment I would definitely complaint but if I only realize it at home I think I just have to let it go...

  3. I actually try to remedy it without making a scene. I have witnessed others make a scene and it ain't pretty. But, dang you get home and then the order isn't right. I usually call and ask for a freebie next time per the managers name. It usually works. Problem solved.

  4. I kid you not, McDonald's ALWAYS screws up our order somehow. They leave stuff out, give me a 4 piece chicken mcnuggets when I ordered a 6 piece, or just give us the completely wrong order. You'd think I would check before I left, but I'm a huge dope and never think to look while I am actually still there.

  5. That was such a sweet gesture, but yeah, what a rip off that you didn't get the pies. I usually go to their website if I have a bad experience and send them a note. I'll bet ya they make it right for you!

  8. Those are aww moments. :)

My two oldest boys love McDonald's but they rarely get their orders right. It's expected that they won't.

I haven't had an apple pie in forever, I remember liking those though.

  10. That's why we ALWAYS check our bags before we leave LOL. We learned that the hard way too many times. Actually, our McDonald's will credit us if we call in about a mistake on our order, so that way we don't waste gas driving back to get what they forgot. They send FPC coupons in the mail when that happens. How nice of that lady though!! SO Sweet!!

  12. How nice.

I always check the bag in the car when he buy fast food, because it seems like they mess ours up about half the time. We don't make a scene about it, and they are always quick to fix the issue. More often than not they tell us thank you for not creating a scene.

  13. Dollar bill? That caught me off guard for a moment until I remembered you are in the US! We haven't had dollar bills in years!

Yep leave it to a fast food restaurant to ruin the moment. I can't remember the last time one got our order right :(

  14. That's a sweet story. I guess the message is that it's the act of giving, not the food itself, that matters. But those apple pies are so hot and yummy. Sorry you were short-changed.
