Easter Is Fun, Even Without Family!

This is the first year we celebrated Easter without the whole family together. My husband and oldest daughter were away on a school trip to Washington. (As soon as I get authorization to post those pictures, I will!) That left me and my 9 year old to fend for ourselves.

We went to the Easter Service at our community center. Afterwards, we were treated to a delicious brunch!

Followed by an Egg Hunt!

We came home and decorated eggs. We wanted to try something new this year, and I heard that you could apply temporary tattoos on the eggs the same as you would people. We experimented to see if the tattoos would stay on the eggs when they were colored. They did, and I think the white wings show up much better after they have been colored..

And the Easter Bunny left Allison a magic jelly bean.

Once planted and watered, it grew into this:

I thought I was going to be really sad not having the whole family together (I was a little), but we actually had a great day!

How did you celebrate Easter this year?

  1. Since I don't have any little ones yet, mainly just ate but we did color some eggs for fun.

  2. Oooh, I need to get some of those magic jelly beans for next year! My boys would flip out.

Bummer that the school trip wasn't planned a little better so that the whole family could have been together, but it looks like you had some good quality time with your youngest :)

  6. It looks like fun. Ours wasn't a typical Easter this year either. I didn't go to church with my husband, son and sister, because I didn't think I was up to it yet after having surgery on Wednesday. I am pretty sure I was right. They were gone for several hours, because of the sunrise service, breakfast, and then regular church services. We ended up eating lasagna for lunch together as a family, and then my husband went to bed since he switched to night shift at work this month (his work let him pick the shift that would work best during my recovery period). Elliott ended up going to bed really early, so Darla and I ate dinner and just ended up chilling in front of the TV for the evening. It was still a nice day, just entirely different than normal. :)

  9. AWWW sounds like you guys had fun, even without the other half of the fam!! How neat that you two got to spend some quality time together on Easter though...I LOVE the temporary tattoo idea!! Wish I would have done that with the kids. We dyed eggs...and omg, took us 2 hours, and it was so messy with a 3 and 5 year old LOL. How cute about the magic jelly bean...I'll have to remember that for next year!!

  11. I am glad you had an enjoyable Easter Theresa although your entire family wasn't there. I have had an enjoyable 4 day holiday which ends today Easter Monday. We had a delicious Easter Sunday and Monday lunch, escoveitched fish, bun and cheese and Easter eggs and chocolate. There was some inconvenience when we had a 24 hour power cut and a lot of rain. Take care and have a great week.

  12. Sounds like you had a good Easter anyway. We're getting used to not having everyone home for all holidays. It happens a lot when the kids leave home.
