Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Shrek The Musical

Shrek The Musical

We have found a love for live theater over the past few years. We have been trying to take the girls to at least one show each year, and really look forward to hearing what will be coming to our area. We are HUGE Shrek fans, so when we found out Shrek the Musical was coming to town, I knew I had to get tickets. We went on Saturday and really enjoyed it! There was the usual twisted humor in the play as there is in the movies, and as much as we love Shrek and Donkey, the character of Fiona stole the show in my opinion.

However, it wouldn't be a day in our lives if something didn't go wrong. When I bought our tickets I had to piggyback the seats, so Jason and Mariah had to sit behind us. Thankfully my husband has a sense of humor because this was his view:

"It's a good thing I only paid $250 for tickets so I could only see 1/2 the show!" he joked the entire time LOL. Who designs a theater and sticks seats behind a huge column? Oh well, we still had a good time.

Do you like to go to live shows? Are there any shows you would recommend we see if they come to our area?

  1. I love the theater, but don't take my boys all that often - yet. If Shrek the Musical comes to town, though, that is definitely something they'd like.

In Boston, most of the theaters are old. I mean OLD, so they all have those columns, too. They are gorgeous to look at, but seriously - how can they sell tickets to people at full price for those seats?

  3. Haven't been to a live show in a while, but they are usually fun. Sure this would be great to see. Hmph to stupid columns.

  4. We've always taken the kids to live shows too (starting w/Sesame Street way back when), and they do love it. Shrek would be a fun one to see, I'm sure!

That stinks about the column, at least your husband was a good sport about it. :)

  5. Oh wow that looks like so much fun! I haven't been to a play or musical before (like a real one...I have been to many that my students have put on, or my little sisters). My parents recently traveled to New York over the Thanksgiving break and got to see three Broadway shows! They even said that was by far their favorite part of the trip (even my 12 year old twin sisters agreed)! It is on my list of things to do for sure!

I am participating in a big 50 blogger/etsy shop giveaway right now, called the Crafter's Dream Giveaway Hop. I am giving away one of my ribbon wreaths and I'd love for you to come and enter! :)

  6. It sounds like fun! We haven't ever taken Elliott to any live shows, except the Disney Junior one at Disney World 2 years ago. He actually hated it, and we haven't tried again yet. lol

The only one that he would be interested in that has come to our area that I've actually known about early enough to get tickets, just happened to be the day before we were leaving to go on vacation last year so we didn't get to go. We're keeping a little better eye out this year, though.

  7. I live in a rural area so I do not get the chance to see live shows. It looks as if it was a great show apart from your husband having a seat behind a big column!:) By the way, the picture of you and your daughters is beautiful. Have a great Monday Theresa.

  10. Thats Crazy that they would seat people in a seat that you have the main view of a column. I wouldn't have been very happy about that..... but the musical sounds fun.

  11. You know, Theresa, I am not that much into live shows. I don't know why. I have seen my share of them in the years, butt I don't live for them or don't think about them. I am glad they are there among us. I am glad you are taking your daughters to such culture. That theater shouldn't sell that seat as an option!!! Pooh on them, that is a cheating thing to do. Bad form, theater, bad form.
