My Husband + Ulta = Never Again!

My daughter wanted a haircut, so we decided we would have it done at Ulta. My husband decided he would tag along. Big Mistake. There are just some places men should not be allowed. The beauty store is one of them. Here is a rundown of the hell I had to endure from my husband during a 30 minute hair cut:

Why is a haircut $35 here? I go to Great Clips and pay $8 for mine. (It shows)

Why are there makeup samples all over? Why are you trying them on? That’s disgusting. You don’t know who touched those.

This perfume sample is all out. It’s only because the bottle is pretty, not because it smelled good.

$9 for nail polish!? I have NEVER looked at your nails and thought “My, those are some pretty nails. It must because she bought the $9 nail polish.”

Why is that man asking more questions about beauty products than his wife? I may go to the craft store with you, but that man just reassured me that I do still have a few punches left in my man card.

Oh my God. Is there a bar in here? Why don’t they have a bar in here?

As we are getting into the car I put some chapstick on. What? You’re putting more crap on? What is that for? Ugh, I would not make a good woman.

He was one more comment away from a karate chop to the forehead. Now I am going to have to come up with some equally annoying comments for the next time I get dragged to the auto parts store.

Ladies, save yourself a headache and NEVER take your man to the beauty store with you.

Men, if your woman insists you go to the beauty store, do both of you a favor and refuse.Unless your are way into grooming, this just isn't the place for you.

  1. I'm laughing, but I totally feel your pain. My husband would be the same way - only I would have sent him to go wait in the car after the first comment or two!

  5. LOL at the karate chop comment, bwuahahahahahahaha. My husband is anti-beauty shop too, and thank goodness for it. :)

  6. Ha ha I'm stuck in the middle. I know what you mean. I'm 1/2 girly. I put on make-up every morning, but it doesn't show. Even then my husband says, "Why do you put that crap on?" I rarely get my hair done. I want to more, but with opposite work schedules, working full-time, well it's hard getting in. I've tried taking the boys to the hair place. That was a mistake. They wanted to wrestle. I never do my nails. I've tried. I used to. Every time I'd take it off my nails would turn yellow. I decided not to do it anymore because of that. I'm envious of pretty nails, but I think of my yellow nails and just can't start painting them again.

I have two sisters and a mom that likes to shop. When I'm with them it's annoying. They look at shoes and purses way longer than I want to. Then they don't buy anything they are looking at. When I'm with my husband he wonders why I take so long, and why I'm buying things I don't "need".

I'm a middle child, so I figure I'm always going to be in the middle of things.

Anymore I do a lot of shopping online.

    1. I've had that same nail polish problem myself. It's worse when I put the darker colors on. I just paint my fingers, but my toes HAVE to be done.

I agree with the online shopping. It is definitely the way to go!

  7. Too funny. They can be a drag sometimes. I can't go to the GROCERY store with my husband. "Do you need that?". Oh, dear. They are nice to have around when you have something heavy to move. ha ha Take care, Linda

    1. Yes! The grocery store too! I get the "do you need that?" and "what are you getting that for?" comments every week! If he didn't load the car up and take the groceries in, I'd ban him from grocery shopping too lol.

    1. Last time I took my daughter for an $8 hair cut, we came home and I ended up re-cutting it. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to beauty!

  9. That's too funny. My husband will go with me and keeps pretty quiet when I go to a beauty store. I don't wear makeup (he hates it and complains every time I do, so I just don't do it anymore), though, so I'm just looking at hair stuff when we go. I was a cosmetologist when we met, until we decided I should stay home with Elliott, so that probably plays into it as well. He couldn't complain about that stuff when we were first dating, so he just got used to keeping his mouth shut. lol

He is a pain that way sometimes when we are at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn, though. I just do it back to him when we are in Menard's, and then we're both nice for a while. haha

    1. I actually love Menard's! You can find all kinds fun stuff there for craft projects ;) I agree with you though, if he knew what he was getting into before marriage, he has no right to complain after it!

  10. OMyGosh Theresa! I was reading this while eating lunch and you about made me shoot water out my nose at the snarky comments you were quoting of your poor ol guy that was TRAPPED IN A BEAUTY STORE. hahahahaha

My HM can't handle Pier1, let alone Ulta. I have never ever attempted Ulta with him. There is one right next to my fave DSW and he asked me what is was once and I simply replied "you wouldn't like that store, too girly". I made him a deal in our first year of marriage: I will not make him go to Pier1. Then I don't have to go into an Auto Parts Store. -Even-! We have never violated that promise ONCE. LOL

thank you for your fun comments about my snow monsters post. :D

    1. I think I've been pretty lucky with my husband on the stores he'll tolerate. He actually likes Pier One. However, he will accompany me to Michael's and that is almost as bad as taking him to Ulta. There is no figuring this man out, because he gets excited to to to Hobby Lobby. He's just a ball of contradictions!

  11. Yes, you're right. I never accompany my wife to the salon.
